Bocephus was awesome, but so were Clint Black, Martina McBride, Lonestar, George Strait, Sara Evans, Montgomery Gentry, Lee Ann Womack, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood. Also featured were Toby Keith visiting from Ground Zero and Travis Tritt talking to troops at a military base in Georgia.
I was in the crowd in Nashville when he debuted this song. It was at the "Country Freedom" concert, the same weekend as the "Concert For New York City" after 9/11 and was televised live. The atmosphere was unlike anything I had ever experienced before at a concert, just electric, with emotions going all over the map. For Hank to make a song like this about New York (after the original negatively-toned song), was just awesome.
