I like to think about it like this: Is there life somewhere in the universe? Yup, right here on planet Earth. Is there gravity somewhere in the Universe? Yup, it's everywhere. If the conditions are right, gravity will happen. And if the conditions are right, a star will form. These are just principles in the universe. So i believe that life is a principle in the universe. So if the conditions are right, life HAS to occur, it is a principle which simply is.
This is actually not a bad argument... I'm impressed... I was up thinking for awhile about it... However, I still believe that its impossible to have an infinite regression of past transgressions... Which means that the Universe had a beginning... Which means that the Universe was made,,, Which means i will get a bunch of emails from atheists because of this comment... owell
humans come from far away in the universe and were searching for a planet to live on billions of years ago of whatever and they found earth with their incredible knowledge. they build the pyramids as their logo or mark?
they sent h20 to the planet to make it a h2o planet.
and maybe humans invented god to disguise the fact that they found the plannet.
i dont understand where all the races came from aswell? maybe each race is from a different plannet far away from earth?
wow i never thought about it like that, but back to thinking like normal humans(complex organic matter) there has to be life elsewhere because there are many many solar systems with our exact situation. Why is it more probable for life to exist where we are? which is pretty much in the outskirts of our galaxy.
@JAHMiZEL How do u know there are many solar systems with out exact situation? Your speculating... You ought not do that when making claims... Otherwise your setting yourself up for a comment like the one i'm leaving now... Prove it!
@nckey42 Well I guess I didn't explain myself enough, I meant with One Star in the middle that's still has about 5 billion years left in it, and a bunch of planets orbiting said star... of course we don't know what the planets are like, we haven't developed technology to tell what the planets are like but by "situation" I simply meant One star in the middle with planets circling it I can prove that
I'm surprised there is a body of opinion amongst astronomers which is strongly against the idea of there being life elsewhere in the universe. On what basis could one make this assumption? Surely the shear number of galaxies would suggest otherwise!?
Sorry, that was just an obscure analogy. By 'agnostic' I just meant that many astronomers are undecided as to whether there is life elsewhere or not. By 'Jesuit' I was referring to hair-splitting arguments. (Jesuits aren't really like that in my experience - but that is the stereotype for whatever various historical reasons.)

Hi Stephen. Great video.

Hello anyfekinnamewilldo (nice name),
Thanks. This is just my personal impression of the community I work in. Many are agnostic. Pursuing that analogy, some have called my view 'Jesuit'!

Lost me there..why Jesuit? So those in the no camp are predominately religious?

I can answer that question!!! Yes, there is life elsewhere in the universe. Everytime we launch an animal or a person into space haha XD
