Shane had to do it they both would have died, think of it this way Otis was a necessary sacrifice because shane, otis and carl would have died some one had to die or all of them would have.
Just a few more hours people, I remember this same excitement and writing something just like what I am writing now months back when season 2 started. I saw in a trailer for a second Carl wearing Rick's hat and carrying a gun, so hopefully it looks like they are going to follow a little more of the comic again about what happens next. And no that was NOT a spoiler and neither is this: Rick doesn't die or anything, in the comic he gives Carl the hat and Carl also carries a gun
How could you not tell he killed Otis? Dale saw him point a gun at Rick while he wasn't looking. And then Shane told Dale, "If i'm the kind of man that would kill his best friend, what makes you think I wouldn't do the same thing to someone I don't even like". So it's quite obvious he's going crazy and he killed the man.
The episode starts at the exact same spot the previous one left off. One of the walkers who got shot (the stepmom) tries to grab Beth (Hershel's youngest daughter), but is killed by Andrea with a swift hoe through the head. Shane shouts some more and Hershel tells the group to "LEAVE MY FARM!" for the umpteenth time. Maggie finally slaps Shane right in the face and things cool down somewhat.
Sophia is buried along with Hershel's dead family members from the barn. T-Dog, Andrea, and Shane pile the other corpses on a truck, drive to a nearby field and burn the bodies in a pyre. Hershel has something of a mental breakdown as he slips out of the farm and goes to a bar in the town to get shitfaced. Beth goes into catatonic shock from the ordeal at the barn, so Rick and Glenn head to town in order to bring Hershel back.
Meanwhile, Dale tells a skeptical Lori about his suspicions that Shane killed Otis and his belief that Shane will sooner or later kill someone else. Daryl snaps and shouts at Lori when asked to bring Rick and Hershel home quicker, stating he's "done looking for people". Lori heads out by herself, hits a random walker on the way and flips the car into a ditch. It's not shown what happened to her. That's the second (and the last) actual walker we see in the episode.
Glenn and Rick find Hershel in the bar. After a five-minute rant by a drunk Hershel, two dudes (Tony and Dave) enter the bar. They are bad guys. They inform Glenn, Rick, and Hershel that Fort Benning is overrun and they're heading for Nebraska, which is supposedly safe. "Low population, lots of guns," as they put it.
The two quickly deduce that Rick and company must have a farm nearby and want to go there because "they've got people to look out for". "That's not gonna happen," says Rick. There's a tense situation, since both guys are armed and threaten to take the farm by force. This culminates with a Clint Eastwood-style gun draw and Rick shoots both guys dead. The scene then cuts to bodies of walkers burning in the pyre. End episode.
If anyone should have died in the part ware they got medicin for Carl, it should have been Shane, cuz Shane doesn't have a wife or kid but Otis had a wife, so I hope Shane dies soon.
Even knowing he did shoot Otis, atleast some good came out of it. Because of Shane shooting Otis, Shane managed to escape which led to Carl being saved. If Shane hadn't done what he did, Otis and Shane would've died, which also meant Carl wouldn't have made it either.

to everyone wondering "how did dale know shane shot otis" heres how.
shane's speech during the funeral. he said they were down to pistols, otis shoved him ahead and said he'd cover shane. well, rick gave otis his revolver. how did shane come back with rick's revolver, if shane's story is true? also, shane doesn't really deny that he killed otis, another indication. dale still remembers shane pointing a gun at rick back in season 1 as well
@jazzas90000 he watched him point the gun to rick, so dale is the only one who is really keeping an eye on him.. he knows what he s capable of,, when they were at otis moral.. shane, was kind twisting his words,, he didnt even know there he was going to start.. plus the way they were talking when dale was hiding the guns,, he kind of took a hint.
@tommygirlkiddo cause in that world you need a leader like Shane. Someone whos looking to do whatever it takes to keep the group stronger... i morally don't agree with his methods but if he didn't kill Otis, him, otis and carl all would've died that night.
@franklintheturtle13 The ends justify the means, right? Sounds like a good excuse for a whole bunch of atrocities. Where do you draw the line? You may end up living but could you live *with yourself*? It's scary that the writers are showing you a man who's slowly slipping into dangerous insanity and yet all you see is a leader and a hero.
@franklintheturtle13 I don't think you understand the definition of insane/unbalanced. It's a medical condition, not a social one - it doesn't change meaning according to the environment. Also, are you saying that this is a world where morals and humanity have gone to shit and all that matters is survival? Because I think a walker shares pretty much the same mentality. What exactly keeps you human? I'd rather die a moral person in a crushed world than live a ruthless animal.
@TheXtremeMTB Bitten, and then eaten by a pack of cannibals for a while, until the cannibals discover the bite. then dale turns into a zombie from his bite and is shot.
Does anyone else think that this is foreshadowing's Dale's death at the hands of Shane? It was already confirmed a month ago that a main cast member wanted off of the show due to Darabount's firing, and Jeffrey DeMunn (the actor who plays Dale) is the closest to him, having appeared in nearly all of his films. So.....
@FreeF10w Yeah, I know. I read the comic. It's interesting, because I have a strong feeling that they would've kept Dale alive even longer.in the show if it wasn't for his actor getting so furious over Darabount's firing. I would've loved seeing Dale eventually
@whereskim89 It´s easy for a guy like Shane, to say: "We have to survive and we shouldn´t think about shit like; Where´s Sophia. She´s gone!". But a true leader would say; "Everyone in this group counts, nobody gets left behind." That´s what Rick his, don´t give up hope, never be hopeless, support the group with speeches, not with god damn Ramboshit, because Ramboshit, kills you out there. Who´s covering your back, if everyone is dead?
@SierraTango187 Sure I agree Rick is the good man, but Shane did go along, but how long should they have looked for Sophia before giving up? Anyway Hershel had to know about a little girl being tossed into the barn. Otis for sure would have mentioned it. Regardless they would never have found her unless Shane didn't instigate the cleaning out of the barn.
@MarkBF1998 wrong about what? Finding Sophia?, unless Shane cleared the barn they never would have found Sophia. Did Hershel know? I think he did and didn't want to say anything cause he knew what Rick would do
He looks out for himself and is also crazy. Rick thinks of others and without him, everybody in the group would be dead, that is what you call a true leader. Rick tries saving others, Shane would kill them. Rick is light & Shane is Dark.
And about Dale being a nosy idiot, so if a crazy murderous scum was living in your camp and could pick you off, would you do something about it or just steer clear until you find yourself or others in deep trouble.
@JKnight16oOo you realize that mexico and south america are part of the american continent, right? ignorant american going to an under funded school, sad
@JKnight16oOo Why should I speak what you tell me to? Isn't this a world wide web? Aren't people free to speak the language they want? I speak english when I talk to english-speakers, and spanish when I do with spanish-speakers; just read the messages that your brain can understand, and let people be. Everyone, speak your own languages, since this is a free world; and if someone gets pissed for not understanding them, fuck him off, he should learn more languages or be a bit more respectful

So.....
molcoo 2 months ago
@molcoo SPOILER ALERT! in the comics dale does die.
FreeF10w 2 months ago
@FreeF10w Yeah, I know. I read the comic. It's interesting, because I have a strong feeling that they would've kept Dale alive even longer.in the show if it wasn't for his actor getting so furious over Darabount's firing. I would've loved seeing Dale eventually
interact with the Alexandria Safe-Zone citizens.

Dale is a nosy idiot, he wanted to hide the guns from everyone, he noses into everyone's buisness, if it weren't for Shane Carl would be dead
Shane is really the leader, Rick is too weak he makes way to many bad command decisions
whereskim89 2 months ago
@whereskim89 he shot sophia when nobodyelse could
AnArbyQSauceGuyTV 2 months ago
@whereskim89 It´s easy for a guy like Shane, to say: "We have to survive and we shouldn´t think about shit like; Where´s Sophia. She´s gone!". But a true leader would say; "Everyone in this group counts, nobody gets left behind." That´s what Rick his, don´t give up hope, never be hopeless, support the group with speeches, not with god damn Ramboshit, because Ramboshit, kills you out there. Who´s covering your back, if everyone is dead?
SierraTango187 2 months ago
@SierraTango187 Sure I agree Rick is the good man, but Shane did go along, but how long should they have looked for Sophia before giving up? Anyway Hershel had to know about a little girl being tossed into the barn. Otis for sure would have mentioned it. Regardless they would never have found her unless Shane didn't instigate the cleaning out of the barn.
whereskim89 2 months ago
@whereskim89 na u wrong
MarkBF1998 2 months ago
@MarkBF1998 wrong about what? Finding Sophia?, unless Shane cleared the barn they never would have found Sophia. Did Hershel know? I think he did and didn't want to say anything cause he knew what Rick would do
whereskim89 2 months ago

@whereskim89 You call Shane a leader?
He looks out for himself and is also crazy. Rick thinks of others and without him, everybody in the group would be dead, that is what you call a true leader. Rick tries saving others, Shane would kill them. Rick is light & Shane is Dark.
And about Dale being a nosy idiot, so if a crazy murderous scum was living in your camp and could pick you off, would you do something about it or just steer clear until you find yourself or others in deep trouble.
