there is a way to fix it almost instantly and very easily, its worked on about 10 ipods with the same thing as yours. start hitting it (kind of hard but not really) against the soft part of your palm right as it begins to start up. continue for about 20 seconds and stop. if it doesn't work try again a few times. i got a few kids at my school to pay me 10 bucks each to fix theirs!!! (make sure it is plugged into a power source)

Dude, I had the same little unhappy face on my ipod. I left it off for 5 months and it hasn't worked right since. Anyway I tried opening it up today with a knife and I couldn't do it. So I cut that shit up real good and threw it across the room. Literally works perfectly now. LOL.

The microdrives are fixable when it fell on the floor it jamed the neadle in the microdrive Get it apart and tair it out and then just tap it hard and the neadle will move agian and then the ipod SHOULD work!
