Great film and worth watching, but like what some say some people can't get past the rape scene, but the film is way more than that. There's a hidden emotion throughout the film that if you're lucky you can see and understand and realize that that emotion builds up throughout the film and eventually just explodes.

People were hurt, things were unresolved, people got a away with things they shouldn't of. I just got this on dvd and the film was so moving and pretty sad I loved it, it was very well acted by everyone especially Dakota, her acting ability was amazing!! towards the ending was really sad that she had to leave daddy but now she is going to live with her mother in a much safer environment. This movie looks so intense because it's involving a young child Dakota Fanning who was only 12 years old in the making of this film. Her acting seems so well!!! and very emotional... her acting ability of a child actress is amazing!!! Funny as hell to look at because it looks cartoonish, but in real life, that is pretty much how your body reacts. You'll get hit with lighting, and shoot straight up, despite leaving your shoes on the ground. The lightning itself wont burn you like it would your clothing, but it still causes immense damage.

It was a very moving film. I must admit the rape scene involving the child was most disturbing... but after all it was all just acting the child never got hurt in real life, it's just a movie. 10/10

This movie looks so intense because it's involving a young child Dakota Fanning who was only 12 years old in the making of this film. Her acting seems so well!!! and very emotional... her acting ability of a child actress is amazing!!! The film seems very emotional just how the little girl's life was like, but even through hard times she found happiness and making a friend in the film.

@TheMissMetaliclily believe you me buddy. That was fairly realistic the way he was hit with lightning. Funny as hell to look at because it looks cartoonish, but in real life, that is pretty much how your body reacts. You'll get hit with lighting, and shoot straight up, despite leaving your shoes on the ground. The lightning itself wont burn you like it would your clothing, but it still causes immense damage.

2:13 is not the rape scene, but it is a scene where she breaks down after the rape. This movie is really upsetting, but at the same time realistic. I cried all through the second half.

@trendyrbd people talk bas about it because this movie got in trouble a few years ago when it first came out because during the rape scene, minors have to have a person over 18 as them.....u cant use minors in any sexual scenes and in this movie they actually did use her and not another person to pretend to be her..i heard this movie was good too and she does a great job at acting so im not complaining or anything, i just wanted to clear that up

Because her Dad becomes what she calls "stupid" and she starts yelling at him. Its pretty much an outburst of bad things happenening to her throughout the movie. really reall powerfull film, Definatley go see it.
