  • Hahahaha--- who wrote the song??? Shailendra Singh??? !!!!!!! There are even people who are not aware that singer Shailendra Singh has nothing to do with lyricist Shailendra???? Amazing!!! The original name of the most popular Hindi film lyricist Shailendra was actually Shankardas Kesarilal.

  • @MyKaempfer ..Thanks for sharing n feed back..

  • Great direction, great story, great acting, great songs, but very painful era of Indian farmer where he works day and night for hardly any return.Very troubling movie if you truly understand what was exactly happening to the farmers life in this movie. Today after 60 yrs. things have not improved dramatically for many farmers, Mother Nature, Corrupt politicians, Loan shark and Greedy lenders at a time have made farmers life very miserable.

  • the despotic era & the landlord systems by the marquis & the mandarins at the helm of affairs has gone when the elite used 2 dominate & marginalize the poor & the down trodden. the story revolves around a poor farmer who is deprived of his land by the landlord. xlnt lyrics & composition. gr8 upload.

  • @jagjitisher ..Thanks for appreciation and writing loving ,rich comment ..

Bimal Roy, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Guru Dutt, Asit Sen: some of my favourite directors, and all men with a string of poignant, meaningful films their credit..about common people with common problems.

DO BIGHA ZAMEEN..the film is known for its socialist theme, and is an important film in the early parallel cinema of India.

  • @jagjitisher I sort of think it's like the English feudal system where you have the fief and the lord. Possibly inherited from the english while they occupied India

  • @jagjitisher ,Please note that even today poor/common people have to give up their land unwillingly under threat to the land mafia under full support and patronage of politicians in this so called democratic free India.

  • i like this movie very much........

  • This song belongs to the era when IPTA was throbbing with stalwarts like Salil Chowdhury, Balraj Sahni at their creative best. The tune of this song is an adaptaion from a Russian marching song. The period saw many of the greatest musical compositions in different languages

  • Balraj Sahani himself was favorite to Marxiism system and he was befriended with George Orwell as well.

also he used to teach at Shantiniketan in late 30's.

He was a real hero in a sense.

  • @derubala ..Thanks for sharing and interesting infro..
