I listen to this song everyday as an inspiration, and a reminder that Jesus Christ is my Lord, and Saviour. We are Christians by our love, but also by our works.Be a light that shines in a way in which will show to others that God is in your life.God bless all of you.My you be safe as you walk with the Lord.
These lyrics come from the Word in John 13:35: "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” In other words, they will know we are Christians by our love.
one day every person and spirit will walk together in heaven. i pray for that alot. even the devil. creator of evil will once turn to truth. there is no denying the love of christ.
@Dionysius8421 No offence intended, but the song was written by Peter Scholtes in 1968, according to Wikipedia, and was certainly being sung in the early 1970s whilst Karl Donaldsson, according to his website the Hearth of Karl Donaldsson, was born in the early 1970s - so this seems very unlikely.
I like the tune and the message, but I do not agree with the logic in the song. It implies: All Christians should be kind and loving; so if you see someone is kind and loving, they must be Christian. Can no Jew, Muslim, Hindu, or atheist be loving? Sorry, but this is the same faulty logic as, "All dogs have four legs; my desk has four legs, therefore my desk is a dog."
@TnseWlms Well, look at is more as being the principle that many Christians take to define them and their religion. All in all Christianity would be a lot better if more people took that idea to heart. Sadly, based on Christians that make the news the most, Christians are recognized as being intollerant and biggoted.
What I suppose you are missing is that it is a song sung by Christians to other Christians, saying how to behave, and it beats the crap out of "Jihhad this or that" every time.
Not to mention this song is doing just what all your songs do,sweeping the entire history of your religion under the rug. When armies of Christians either slaughtered for forced conversion on people by threat of death,Was that what you call love? You Christians think you can be superior by hiding and denying all the things you've done and will have to do and you'll continue to do it until reality hits and you've left all your people without guidance of how to deal with real life except for dying.
Well that's all well and good but what happens when poverty and war hits all these people you love? What do you do when a greedy superpower sells their lives? Do you "love" your enemy? What do you do when your people are being manipulated into false security? Sitting back and letting your people suffer for your own beliefs of "peace and love" and "the meek shall inherit the earth" is not love. Love has to be fought for and protected form it's enemy. The "meek" can not love.
You should be deeply ashamed of yourself. Christians steal everything they are from other religions, though, so I guess this is just par for the course. The original song was a beautiful idea of unity and community and you had to take it and pervert it to fit your own selfish need to own everything. You people sicken me.
love it and "remember to pray for the USA government first before praying for anything else", see 1TIM 2:1-4 and Daniel 2:20-21 because it's God's will. Good government facilitates the preaching of the gospel and bad government hinders it.
@raachel167 Amen! Not all anti-establishment. It's so easy to blame the government for everything. Try to do their job. Pray for them! They need it. And your support. Disobey them only if they stop you from worshiping God and serving Him, like in Communist countries and other dictatorships.
If you don't have Christ in your life you might as well say you are living in the dark ages Christ died for everyone's sins all are welcome to accept him !!!!
@samiullahmir i dont have christ but i live in the light of archangel michael.hes the best.and yes hes also for witches.hes not your christian angel.he loves all people no matter what believe they are from.as long as they serve the light.
I have not heard this song in a very long time and forgotten how nice it is. And this is a great arrangement since my memories of the song are of an upbeat nature during a guitar Mass.
My oldest brother is an athiest. However he does like some of the songs he heard at my church while visiting me. He also enjoyed the Pastor's sermon and said "If your Pastor was where I lived, I would go to church every Sunday." That's saying a lot coming from him. My brother also believes in the book of Revelation yet still claims to be an Athiest.
@pspmags sounds like the Spirit is working on his heart! i pray that soon your brother by blood will become your Brother by the blood of Christ.. keep praying!
FYI, It's not "save each man's pride" !! This is really something we need to put at the foot of the Cross.. it should read, "and give up all our pride" or " and crucify all our pride"
i came to listen to an amazing song, and its sad to look below and see all these comments. You believe what you want and other will do what they want.. leave them alone. your opinion is no greater than anyone else.
@daveindurham2701 "create a moral starting point for themselves " What about the morals we've inherited from evolutionary processes (the ones that preceded religion)?
Beyond that, I'd say atheists (usually left-wingers) just subscribe to the 'moral' values they think best serve society. In an age of greater understanding, it's difficult to see how homosexuality is wrong or how back-chatting your parents should be punishable by death.
@daveindurham2701 Haha, ok, one more reply before I leave then, just because just as I was writing to you to ask you to stop making baseless assumptions about atheists, you go and baselessly assume that my happy friends with good lives are actually feeling hopelessness... Things like that are just assumptions that you can assert and make your religion look good because you can then assert that it solves the problems that you're just imagining that we have. Nice show.
@daveindurham2701 Well, you're just making assertions "Atheists have no basis for morality" "Devotion to the love of God is a good basis for morality", et cetera. I've seen those assertions many times before (along with the extremely flawed argument that "atheists have killed a lot of people") and I've never seen any proof for those assertions. But this isn't the format or the place to discuss it properly, so I'll leave now. Have a good life and don't assume too much about atheists. Cheers.
@daveindurham2701 So if I say "No, I didn't say that black people are criminals, I said that they are *more likely* to be criminals" that wouldn't be racist to you? That's not insulting? But ok, I'll accept that you don't *mean* to be insulting. I will say however that it scares me when some people feel that they need cosmic law and the threat of hell to be good, loving people. Among all the atheists I know, nobody has "those issues" - they don't lack morals because of a lack of a supreme ruler.
@daveindurham2701 I like the fact that you state, quite simply, that atheists lack morals and then accuse atheists of being boorish and insulting. I could think of no worse insult than the one you gave, but you probably think that you were polite because you didn't swear - a lot of people think that way. You also seem prone to judge a group entirely by it's loudest members. Do you do the same thing with other groups? Do you think that all Christians are like Fred Phelps because some of them are?
@daveindurham2701 I don't really see what the problem with seeking personal pleasure is if everyone is consenting, no one harmed etc...
As for not having a moral guide to turn to, non-belief is non-belief. I don't choose to believe morality is a social construct / product of evolution. I'm just an empathetic human like the rest of us.
Mocking believers isn't gonna unite the world, i agree, but I reckon the last 2 millennia have probably given greater discomfort to the non-believer.
@daveindurham2701 Why does hedonism have to exist outside of ideology (religious in this case)? Look at secular Scandanavia - probably the least chaotic corner of the globe.
I don't understand why my innocuous comment has been flagged as spam. Who did it and how was it done? Did someone do it in the name of Christianity?
