I have 042-009's on my Variax. I can't tell if that's the 'right' gauge for this guitar, but the 10's I use on my other guitar felt a bit heavy on this one.
It does have a dedicated sitar setting, which is how I got the sound.
Only other peculiarity when I did this batch of videos was that I accidentally swapped the B and E strings and didn't realise.

What gauge of strings are you using ? Did you use a particular setup to get that sitar sound ?
