i had someone tell me that some of my music sounds like this idk if this is true or not any one want to give their opinions on this? if you wana hear my music go to myspace /rankoffall
All original, ultimate best. This was a part of the movie trailor for thoes who remember. Look at Arnold, furthest thought from his mind was politics. You wont hear this track on the radio, even XM. GP, stay up! DCB
hence in all probability, this is the origination of they got the idea to either
1) have someone else sing the riff
2) sample the original track and post a model for the video who thought she was singing it but when in the studio, they used the original sample, instead or
3) Post a model who pushed a key on a sampler and claims it was her vocal when it was simply a sample.
Ah, the mystery of pop music. The world may never know the truth
Although upon listening, I can see how it would be sampled, easily as it is virtually aCapella and with very little background music save for a few guitar notess. The key the original "did I dream, you dreamed about me" in the This Mortal Coil track is within the confines that it would fit...and the slowed tempo of the Messiah tracks to the pitched down a semitone aspect of the sample. So, if you sang it, then you sang the exact phrase from another song, and weren't aware of it.
I remember hearing this song on the mutaut dance party on WHFS back in 1993. I'm glad I finally got the name of the song after all these years. THANKS
hi, I don't know what "this mortal coil" is, but I can assure you that the vocal samples used on Messiah's Temple of Dreams are mine, and it is me that you see singing in a silver outfit on their original video. I was the featured artist used on this particular track.
This Mortal Coil's version of Song to The Siren is most likely the song that Messiah wanted to sample, though it seems the key of the vocals in that song are different than the vocals on the Messiah song... So I am assuming that is why they asked you to record that vocal part. Here is a link to the "This Mortal Coil" song I am talking about: watch?v=4mUmdR69nbM
I do remember the original video and still have it somewhere on a VHS tape entitled Techno Rave Vol 1. I believe the original video was in black and white and the vocalists hair was up in a conical shaped weave, correct? Very good vocals and sadly people are misquoting the origin of the vocals due to someone on another website misinforming others that the vocal snippet was a sample taken from a track by the group This Mortal Coil entitled 'Song of the Siren'
I agree. It seriously fucks up the sound. Like a boy trying to show his shiny new bike. Look at me mom, mom, mom, look, no hands, look at me look at me.
@Robertissimo Man good techno really game out of 80s experimental music. There were some great tunes even before 89. And yes, even though I can't dance, I agree with you. That would be cool.
I heard the house hardcore tune raving in 1991 on love doves. . .those were the days! although i never related this tune to the running man film, now obviously it is
i heard this track many years ago around 95 and it wasnt wasnt untill many years later i saw running man and realized where the vocal came from. this video is great its exactly like i pictured if i was to make it. awesome. good job

remember hearing this one back in the day, on the dancefloor ... already having been a TMC fan for years I had to just jump up and/or down ...
but seems a bit OTT now. i'll just steal the TMC/Buckley bit for the private material remixes'..

The vocal snippet in contention here happens at 1:25 into the track "Song to the Siren" by the group This Mortal Coil.

Is it me or does someone seriously need to open up a club and just play Rave tunes from 89-94 non stop??
throw in a few Italo piano house and early house mixes and its a night made in heaven!
is this a gap in the market?? ok it will mainly be for the late 20s to early 40s brigade but who cares lol

Try Ulrich Schnauss and William Orbit (fuck the Madonna pollution though).
