Gave me goosebumps prolly the best live version of this song and you could tell Dave was getting moved by the music he started to like go crazy ad jump and shit haha. So good
@dsiphor98 It's a feedback supressor. It's pretty much a plug that covers the soundhole on the guitar for when you're using it on stage etc so that sound from monitors can't get to the pickup mic inside the guitar which would cause feedback.
I'm not a fan of over embellished drummers, but Carter's style remains relevant to the music and maintains groove..........definitely my favorite drummer
lol this is a true story about dave and his wife. they were coming back from some sort of trip and dave went first in a differnt car then his wife. he was hit on the passenger side of his car and if his wife would have been in the car with him she would have died. hence "so damn lucky"
At 0:43 Dave looks back at Carter as if to say "You are one funky badass drummer dude". It's clear that Dave feels blessed to play with such great musicians.
I saw an interview with Dave and he said it's about being thankful. He went on to say it's like the seconds before you fall and know that you can't stop it.Just a enough time to wonder how the damage your going to take.
@mrhornets41 On the Radio City DVD Dave says that this song is about that little period of time before you fall or something bad happens where you reflect how yout got there and what will happen next
This group never ceases to amaze me. Just when you think they couldn't play a song any more beautifully, they give it a twist and make it even more awesome.
and while i am on the subject of dave being amazed by his own band..I wouldn't limit it to just what Carter can do..I think he does it when the Great leroi would do something and so on so forth..and of course when Timmy is Jammin...and he was obviously loving the outro on this night , but i don't blame him..the first time they did this song last year and i hear it like this..i was all smiles myself..) forgive me I just like to talk about DMB...and it would seem i find myself in good conpany here
I hear ya, man. I loved in their Road to Big Whisky documentary when they were all saying such nice things about eachother. I think these guys were meant to play together.
You couldn't have said it any better. The first time I heard the outro to this, I literally almost cried. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
i was in lucca, italy last sunday and they played the song with the same outro..... just great, fantastic and unbelievable! still can't believe it that i saw them...
I love that even though they all know what carter is capable of, when he pulls out that insane drum intro, dave is so surprised/happy about it and has to turn around.
I agree..i watch them do that stuff alot..anytime he does something a touch different from even the night before..lol.. you can see dave or Stefan..and even when Butch was there...they have the same reaction i have ..like wow did he just do that! kudos my freind
def. mini. listen to tim's solo shit like betrayal or stream on acoustic. before you EVER call him out like that. especially comparing him to metal musicians????
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
haha no its actually probably because carter came in too early and kinda messed it up. it still sounds sick but daves looking back to kinda laugh it off.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
love this but carters drumming is too good for the song that it distracts - i think this is why they didnt do it a a band song - dave has to be the focus here and carters rythmic genius is too much
yes that intro is amazing. i love when dave looks back and smiles at carter. he is just as amazed as all of us by some of the shit that God does behind that kit.
Amazing! I don't know where you people get "Carter came in early" from, because that was absolutely amazing. It's called artistic license! He is a genius behind that kit. One of the greatest drummers in the world for sure!
The drums come in whenever Carter wants the drums to come in. Carter has the freedom to do whatever he wants whenever he wants that's why this band would be any drummer's dream to play in.
Yes that drum intro is sweet!

I don't care what the song's about, it's fucking awesome! It makes me feel really happy :), especially the awesome guitar part by Tim Reynolds.
I have been listening to it non-stop for the past 4 days and while doing so, I came up with a really neat choreography :D.
