First of all, I don't trust the "evidence" found after the fact by the Americans one bit, since the original "evidence" was made up. Secondly, N. Korea has nuclear weapons, and, unlike Saddam, would actually use them. So why aren't we invading them? Because they have no oil. The war was ILLEGAL. The UN told Bush he could not go to war, but he broke international law and did it anyway, and in the end, there were no WMDs. People died for Bush's bank balance. Iraq was not a threat to us.
We dont invade North Korea because. 1) We cant. A war in North Korea could easily drag in the Chinese & lead to a global economic catastophy. 2) North Korea is now complying with international cries for disarmament. 3) NK is less likley to use WMD's than Saddam Hussein-he had already used them on his own people. Well for one thing the invasion was justified under previous UN resolutions. Iraq had breached UN sanctions & failed to comply with weapons inspectors. Secondly the "UN" did not oppose the war, France did. This shows another reason for the UN's lack of authority. The French were not acting out of the goodness of their hearts as I have said earlier. First of all, I don't trust the "evidence" found after the fact by the Americans one bit, since the original "evidence" was made up. Secondly, N. Korea has nuclear weapons, and, unlike Saddam, would actually use them. So why aren't we invading them? Because they have no oil. The war was ILLEGAL. The UN told Bush he could not go to war, but he broke international law and did it anyway, and in the end, there were no WMDs. People died for Bush's bank balance. Iraq was not a threat to us.

We dont invade North Korea because. 1) We cant. A war in North Korea could easily drag in the Chinese & lead to a global economic catastophy. 2) North Korea is now complying with international cries for disarmament. 3) NK is less likley to use WMD's than Saddam Hussein-he had already used them on his own people. The War was illegal? Like Saddam Hussein murdering his own people was Illegal, the UN did a great deal to stop that didnt it. Iraq was a threat as 1991 showed.

The UN is an organisation that gave Saddam (a mass murdering dictator) the same say as India, the worlds largest democracy. If that is a body that has moral authority then the world has a problem. As for only ones that have oil get invaded, right so what about: Germany, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Nicaragua &C. All major oil producers? I made the point that there are plenty of countries that murder their own people (Zimbabwe for one, which America could easily invade) but they chose Iraq to have a "regime change". The evidence wasnt there, and thats why the UN said NO. You cannot invade on the basis of, "Well, they might have WMDs, theres no real evidence they have, but hey, better safe than sorry!" because then people die for no reason. In fact at the time most intelligence agencies in the west thought that Iraq had or was trying to obtain WMD. The reason that the French didnt join the US was simple. The French didnt care if Iraq had WMD, they were the people who gave Iraq its first reactor & were happily breaking UN sanctions by trading with Saddam.

The evidence was extremely dubious. It wasn't enough to convince the UN that there was enough case for a war. The UN said that to go to war would be illegal, because there was not enough evidence. The US went to war anyway, and the UN was right. No nuclear threat, but now lots have people have died for this illegal war.

As for the no WMD's. If it's ok for you to say that looking back the US thought it would be easy then I can say looking back the US believed Saddam had WMD's. In which case the invasion was justified. Like I said the fact he didnt have them is irrelevent. Well for one thing the invasion was justified under previous UN resolutions. Iraq had breached UN sanctions & failed to comply with weapons inspectors. Secondly the "UN" did not oppose the war, France did. This shows another reason for the UN's lack of authority. The French were not acting out of the goodness of their hearts as I have said earlier. Yet you and others have been duped by the UN's magic aura into believing that this self interested decision by Chiraq makes the US's war wrong.

You seriously believe Saddam Hussein would have sold oil to the americans?!? He was burning the oil refineries as the americans were invading so that they wouldn't get any. The americans have always seen Saddam as a threat to them (even when he actually isn't) so they thought they'd get rid of him and take the oil at the same time. They didn't expect the war to turn out the way it has, and to be so costly. It's easy to say that in hindsight, but they thought it would be an easy, quick victory.

No, I'd bring back execution, allow the police to do their job properly, make the courts pass the MAXIMUM sentence for any crime, remove all the mod-cons from prisons and return them to the Victorian conditions criminals deserve. I'd have the national DNA database as no-one who obeys the law need fear anything. I'd stop funding for drug rehabilitation, as it's a waste, and increase defence spending. Politicians are driven by the desire to increase their power and personal wealth. Also, to preserve their positions by telling as enormous a lie as possible to fool the electorate into voting for their party again. Politics in the UK currently does not reflect the views of anybody but themselves. They are trying to remake the country in their own image. Shame that their image is a group of lying, thieving, DECEITFUL charlatans only interested in increasing their personal power!

Yeah. I disease of free speech, social security, stable economy, high standards of education(& free), world-class universities, free health-care, laws for our protection, women's rights, tolerance, choice and higher chances of social mobility. That's obviously a disease isn't it?
Some people fall through the net and that is sad, but for the majority of us this system of government is the best it's ever been. Look to the past to find appreciation.

Wars for no reason, oppression, dislike of other systems. As far as women's rights go, Emmeline Pankhurst did that against the wishes of Government! Social mobility? Don't make me laugh. The only way a working class person goes is down unless there is an astonishing stroke of luck. Free education? Is university free? No. Laws for the protection of the status quo and the fortunate. Choice? Of what exactly? Social security? Only if you are an absolute scrounger! Tax? Extortion by Government.

Stable economy? Remember the Tories in the 70s and 80s? See what's happening in the markets now? All I see as far as politics is concerned is the wage I EARN being taken from me to fund a bunch of savages in suits grunting at each other in a very sybaritic room. NHS? Worth every penny but being raped by politics and the allowance of every Tom, Dick and Harry to use it. We entered the common market, the IMF and the EU without or politicians asking whether we wanted to!

More and more tax is being taken from the working man to pay for less and less. And you say politics is a good idea? Remember Stalin? Adolf Hitler? Benito Mussolini? General Franco? All politicians, all insane. I despise politics for the lies it represents, and it tells us it's doing things for our own good, for simultaeneously stabbing you in the back. Sorry you don't agree, Will, but I have spent too long being raped with unjust taxation to pay for scum to buy plasma tvs...

Every time any Goverment tries to improve the rights and lives of the minorities it's the majority that pays, suffers and is denied the benefits! And you think this is fair? By the way, I am totally apolitical and hate all parties equally.

Pankhurst was years ago, since then we are all treated equally by law. Yeah, it's not great but it's still better. And yes, there is still an elite but the difference is that we are in a democracy not a dictatorship - like Hitler, Stalin. One cannot be pusillanimous about political parties when they strive to best represent us, I think in reality they are trying their best. And yeah, I agree that there are a few that exploit social security but if you lost your job tomorrow you'd be safe.

It is BECAUSE of Emmeline Pankhurst that women have the vote, and NOTHING to do with politicians, who would have loved to have silenced her. So you admit Britain's politics are elitist? Good, at least I have made an impression! And what is a Prime Minister but an elected dictator? Or for that matter any head of state? Political parties do NOT reflect the people, they reflect the views of their members. Parties only exist because of their members. Politics has NEVER been about the people.

Would I be safe if I lost my job tomorrow? I doubt it. Jobseeker's Allowance barely pays my family's food bill, let alone my mortgage. It's only through work you can sustain yourself. Government can't be trusted. No power crazed loony in a suit grunting at his opposite number in the House Of Commons and throwing paper about!

Oh and free education? We should have to pay for our future. If 30% of the country go to university it's hardly feesable for that to be paid for by the government - especially media studies & others. I'm glad I pay for it, it's my own endeavour and it's not up to other people to help completely.

It used to be free, and our free education was taken away from us. By politicians more interested in lining their own pockets. Do you REALLY think that politicians give a shit about their constituents? Or any kind of decision that might threaten their lovely little well paid pointless existence? Nothing you can say will ever convince me that the evil of politics is a good thing...

education is a right, not a privilege.
the government has enough money to renew trident and engage in foreign wars, so you can't say that it's too strapped for cash to invest in education- it just has its priorities wrong.
