I Agree with her telling about no matter wich violin is to be used, like Guarnerius, Strad or others, the most important is a most comfortable instrument for yourself, the other is dedication and passion. Love this girl!
She further commented, I'd never been asked to present "as sad a piece as she can play," or been given 8-10 minutes to perform in front of cameras. I'd also never been told in a TV setting that my artistic comfort was the most important element. The host and producers made sure I knew ahead of time that I could go into any detail or recount any story without worrying about being interrupted. Needless to say, I'm grateful for it all and still thrilled. This experience was worth every millisecond.
She liked the interview and said in her journal: Today was a good day I was the sole guest on a Danish show, and I actually got to play music at the length at which it was intended. No one-minute cutoff, no requests for fast and happy showpieces, just artistic freedom and a nice conversation and some goofing off with a thoughtful host. Some hints: Ysaÿe, Bach, Down in the Swamp;, the first piece I ever played, hula hooping, and the Danish release date of the Schoenberg-Sibelius album.
OMG! Can this guy be any dummer!? I feel embarrassed for her. I've checked her website before and it's all very obvious and clearly written, but he is sooo stupid!!!
What? I'm American. But actually it is about his English. Go to the interview of Hilary Hahn French Part 1 and you'll find her looking for words and asking the interviewer. Same deal - it's hard on non-native speakers sometimes. The questions and answers both come out very simplistic. It's like when they interview Roger Federer - he just gives simple basic answers because his English is weak.
Ok, I respect your opinion but than they should have asked another Dane to do the interview. Maybe this guy instantly fell in love, which explaines his clumsyness and lack of attention. Still the interview is embarrassing, and poor Hillary is trying to be polite all the time...;)
Hehe. Fell in love with a very young woman? I hope not - he has wedding ring on! Yeah - I dunno maybe the station doesn't have many good English speakers. I think it's because he appears cold at times - might be a European thing (much like British do). He warms up a little bit - starts talking about setting fire to the instrument and stuff.
hahahahaha, I felt sameway too. His native tone isn't english, so he looks bit stupid and slow (so do I). but he is very nice. and Hillary is nice too.
Seems like a fun show.
8:23 Haha Denmark!

Hilary's a GODDESS!
A superlative artist, an intellectual, a consummate musician, with a frolicsome sense of humor! I LOVE this woman!!!
That 'bluegrass' composition is by Edgar Meyer, who wrote a violin concerto for her.

Looks to me as if they were (just) having a bit of fun. Nothing wrong with that, if both parties are willing. And Hilary looked willing enough to me.

He is strange. She must have felt very suffocated in his presence in front of the TV cameras.
She tries to scream out a bit, by interviewing HIM, slightly.
Then he can't easily refuse because he was the one who started it off.
But he idn't care too much, and She, must have needed a few hours to get back to herself after this wierd encounter with this freakish man.
(I hope YOU who posted this, is not that man! I don't take me too seriously if you are)!

In fact I think he is a decent interviewer - he seems mellow but it's kinda cool.

He's a Dane. Give him a break. The English is not easy for him.

So now you're defending this guy because YOU are danish yourself? C'mon, it's not about his english and you know that...

I don't think the interview is embarrassing at all. Just because it's not a 'stuffy' interview. Good fun was had by both.
