I hear this version is sort of coming back with the music teaser Bioware released for ME3, glad to hear you're working on it, I'm sure you'll keep Clint in check :p
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Mass Effect. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
The percussion in ME2 sounds a lot like SD2. Is the soundtrack completely software-rendered, or were the orchestral parts actually being recorded live?
I've played a lot of games in my life... and the soundtrack of mass effect is by far the best i've heard so far. At least the best fitting for a game. Love it!
@MDesigner the opening shot when the title crests the planet's atmosphere was simply genius. Good work on the whole OST, from both you and your entire team.
I've listened through all the concept musical pieces you posted with joy, just as everything from Mass Effect's music, it exceptional and very distinctive from any game I've played before (and that's stretching a long time)... reminds me of the classic sci-fi movies of the late 70's - 80's.
If you have any say on this, please, ask BioWare to release a full trilogy audio CD with all soundtrack once Mass Effect 3 is finished, with all the soundtracks, concept and unused pieces!
I love this song! Incredible job! I'm listening to it for the fourth time and I'm still getting major goosebumps! I have to go find, buy, download this song!! I thought it was great how the video started out with just the piano.... :)
I'm not sure what part this is from. I assumed it was at the very end as Shepard is running out of the debris. Either way, I love the OST of ME1 and 2., and this piece should have been in it somehow. Excellent work.
Well, I didn't think the main theme was bad at all! It was actually one of my favorite songs in the game. I'd actually just sit there and listen to it. It may not be the most exciting song in the world, but I see it as an introduction to a grand story, and what story starts with a boom? maybe its just cause I play music, but I understand that it can't be all fast-paced music, don't get me wrong, I'm still a novice at music ( i play piano), but it gives me a greater respect for things like this
Dont listen to him, This is nice too, but the official version fit the pace of the scene better. Really pulled the whole destruction of sovereign scene together beautifully.
The music in Mass Effect (both 1 and 2) was amazing. I'd really love to be able to play any of the songs on the piano I'm about to buy. Is there any way to get / buy the piano sheets for the game's music?
Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer this question.
I actually rather like the piano version of it you do at the beginning of this video too.
I picture something glorious happening, perhaps the defeat of the reapers. All other sounds are muted, the camera is switching scenes, showing different places and different characters all across the galaxy engaged in battle. Some are soldiers battling on the ground, some are fighting on board starships, and others are civilians who have joined the fight... (continued in next post)
... Everyone is fighting the last, most desperate and glorious battle of all time, the battle to end all battles. But everyone starts slowing down, soldiers on both sides quit fighting each other and look up to the stars as the countless reaper ships are being destroyed. The endless cycle of extinction has been ended at last... (continued)
Shepard and/or his/her love interest are holding each other and are in tears as they watch the the skies light up above them, outshining all the stars. Final victory with just that piano tune playing.
Yes, cliche', but at least it looks it looks awesome in my head.
Yep, Zander...exactly! That's why the change was made to the melody, so it would have a hint of the main theme in it. Ties it in better. This version doesn't have that, BUT I kinda prefer this one still, even though it doesn't tie in. The progression just feels more victorious & majestic to me, for some reason.
Yeah, I like this version of the victory theme too.
I can't decide which is better though, they are very similar except this one goes, like, up in note, then down, up, down, up, up, then back down while the other simply goes up, up, up, up, down, repeat.
However, the other seems to have more of a similar tune to the main theme to the whole game itself, so I guess that's why they went with it? Anyway, they both sound equally epic.
Apparently, the evolution of THIS became the Mass Effect 3 demo's start music.

Wow, I love this. What could possibly make them chose the official cheesy one? (if I remember it correctly).
ZoneBaracking 2 years ago
@ZoneBaracking Er, I hope the official one wasn't cheesy, because I wrote it, and it wasn't too far from this version really.
