I am getting cone snail venom put in my implanted Medtronic pain pump to hopefully alleviate my chronic back pain. In minute amounts the venom blocks calcium channels which is how your pain signals travel to the brain. The commercial name for the venom is Prialt. I find these creatures rathers interesting, esp. because of how they catch and eat their prey; considering the fact that they are one of the mostly deadliest creatures on the planet, and the only carnivorous snail in the oceans. Fortunately these animals are pretty much stationed to living off the northern coasts of Australia.

These snails are found in most tropical waters. While stationed in Hawaii I was able to find leopard, bubble,and geographic cones just to mention a few. As for putting them in a community aquarium, these are predators and your fish would disappear in a few days.
