2 ) She loves him = Ella lo ama or Ella ama el as seen both forms used
3 ) He loves her = El la ama or El ama ella
4 ) I like her = ME GUSTA ELLA or Elle me gusta ? I've have seen both forms
5 ) She likes him = LE GUSTA EL or Ella le gusta
6 ) She likes me = LE GUSTO YO
LE gusta el ( 5 ) and le gusto yo ( 6 ) is what a Spanish friend told me, but yo in 6 and el in 5 should that not be a indirect or direct pronoun and both YO and EL are neither.
Muchas gracias! Just started week one of Spanish one, your simple explanations helped a lot! Simple explanation between pl and singular was what I was missing.
Whats the difference if I were to say "Me gusta comer el pollo" as opposed to "A mi gusta comer el pollo?" And the difference if I were to say "Maria le gusta caminar" as opposed to if I were to insert the "A" in it.
@Mojoman1 You cannot leave out the indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, etc,) at all, ever. YOu CAN leave out the a mí, a tí, a él, etc... That is for additional emphasis or clarity. Your final example MUST have the "a Maria" to be grammatical. THe me, te, le, etc. means a + whomever, to me , to you, to him, to her something is pleasing
You have taught me more in one weekend than my college spanish professor has taught me this entire semester (3 weeks). If it was not for your videos I would surely fail my first exam! Thank you for posting these, they are very helpful.
Thanks very much for this clear explanation. I am helping my 12-year-old with this and sometimes it's easier for him to really "listen" when the lesson comes from someone other than dad. This will help a lot!
Hey, this is Erin Matthews (Anders). Thanks, Mr. Jolley, for this great explanation! I am teaching this to my Spanish 1's right now and they just are not getting gustar. So, on Monday I am going to show them this to offer a different explanation from someone who taught me! Thank you for the resource and for an excellent video for us to use. :)
hey your video is great. could you do a video on the preterite of gustar. for instance, how do you say we liked the movie and we liked the movies. is there a difference between preterite singular gustar and preterite plural gustar. thanks in advance.
kioannides1313: Yes, if you mean to say "I like you", that would be "You please me" in English and "Me gustas" or "A mí me gustas" in Spanish. Sounds like you understand it!
porque la verdad habla un español casi perfecto pero es me gusta andar EN motocicleta no de peor señpor enserio felicidades I now how hard it is to speak another language I lived in seattle several months and it still hard to me speak and think in english so i wanna learn better portuguese y mas facil para mi porque se parece al español felicidades
These are the best videos I can find to teach spanish. I'm trying really hard to learn and this is a great supplement to my learning. Thank you very much, I appreciate it all the videos!
Yay! I love when you post a new Spanish lesson! Very organized and well-taught. Soooo helpful, as always :)
I would love to see a lesson on when to use and when to omit the definite article. I sometimes get confused with what is meant by non-restrictive apposition (definite article omitted) and when it is added to abstract nouns and nouns used in a general sense. Could you address this in a future video?
Yes, awesome Manu Chao song, and very good way to learn gustar, except that it uses the construction "Me gustas tú'," which is correct but I just wanted to focus on gusta/gustan. I am sure that song has been posted here on youtube, great suggestion!

Don't even get me started on the way he says 'O' .. Lol

Cual has to be followed by a verb it cannot precede a noun

I can't for the life of me figure out why spanish teachers always treat gustar so strangely. It is not complicated.
