thank you for this great vid. I'm Rastafari now letting my hair lock up in "natural" locks. and since I have gray/brown white-people hair, it's taking awhile for it to lock up. so, it looks not-so-great right now. usually I just wear a scarf tied bandana-style but I've always wondered how to do other wraps. especially from beautiful African women. You're so gorgeous and very kind to take time to show us how to do this. give thanks and praises. RASTAFARI.
Very informative cuz I didn't know how those wraps were done but u showed me how to wrap my hair up with this really large scarf that I have cuz when I tie my hair up with this scarf it's always so much excess left over TY
y did you cut locs off just because of lint? Did you try to brush/comb/pick them out first, or was it really bad lint? I am lucky so far, either I don't have "lint-making pillows" or my hair just doesn't hold lint, because in the past 4 years since I have had locs, I really haven't had any problems with lint.
Thankx again for all of ur great suggestions. I finally made the t-shirt head wrap earlier this week, and I love it, I got a lot of compliments on it from the ppl at the hair studio
Nice locs and advice. What will be good for my locs. I am almost 3 months in and they curl up in the back whether I wear a du rag or stocking cap. Please help
you mean the locs get stuck in a curled-up position? its all in the way you tie them down when you use a stocking cap. you have to make sure they're all laying down flat under the cap or rag. if they are stuck in a bent position for hours, they will stay that way after you take the rag off. hope that was a little helpful.
gurl, lemme tell u..I used the technique where u tied your hair, stuck the back in and tied around the ponytail to make a bun in the back...it looked sooooo CUTE on me..I got some Louis Vuitton scarves from the trader show market and I was looking fly as hell..thanks for the info
Thanks for the vid. I can relate to your issues with up dos and headaches. That's part of the reason i switched to locs. Haven't worn my hair in a tight ponytail in about 2yrs. Now that my locs are starting to go past my shoulders, your wraps are a great solution. Especially for summer, hair on my neck when it's hot doesn't agree with me. I almost chopped mine off too. lol Thanks again...
This was very helpful. i've been looking for easy wrap styles and I love what you did. I will definitely be using those styles. One question, how much material did you get? How many yards or whatever? Thanks!
honestly, i don't know. the t-shirts are usually 2 or 3XL. the scarves are just whatever size Target has. I haven't bought material specifically for headwraps, so i'm not sure of the yardage.
i wear a lot of scrafs to, so I thank you for the ideas because some of my head wraps are to large to do anthing with so I usual just tuck them. I see women with the different styles and I always wonder how they tied them so again thank you. By the way I will be new to the dreadlocs this weekend so I want to know how long have you been growing yours for?
i wear them anywhere and everywhere. they're like earrings or make-up, an accessory. i wear them to work on hot days if i don't want to feel my hair on my back, i wear it to match an outfit, i wear it when i need to retighten my roots and i feel my hair looks sloppy, i wear it when i clean my house to avoid getting dust in my hair, i wear it because it makes my eye make-up pop more. there's really no special reason to wear them. hope that answers your question.
Thanks, this was informative. I love the 3 piece wrap at the end it has endless color possibilities. Could you acheive that look with 2 pieces? My locs are not as long as yours so this may be better for me. Thanks for sharing, D
thanks so much I have a T shirt I am about to destroy and go practice. I hope It comes out good. I am transitioning to natural and I am tired of looking a mess.
sis, you remember when i used to do head wraps when we were younger? i didn't have nearly as much hair then and i still managed to do mostly the same style. you can do it now, too!
Very informative video. My locs are not long enough to wrap like that yet but when they are I will definitely try out ya wraps. I will also take a trip to Walmart and pick up a couple packs of men's t-shirts. 5 star vid!
nope. its just a t-shirt. you don't usually get lint or cotton balls from a t-shirt unless it unraveling. the most i get is dried out hair cause the cotton wicks away the moisture. then i just spritz my hair with some water mixed with a leave-in, fluff, and go!
Thanks for sharing. I love the wraps. I have been trying with a tee-shirt and couldn't remember how you cut it. I also like the double wrap. I love my hair up and in scarves and this gives me some great ideas. (Moving my mouse to click that favorite button above :))
yay! i'm glad you like it. sometimes i'll buy a pack of mens undershirts from Walmart in like 3XL and cut them up and use it for headwraps. the african cloths are beautiful, but just not something in my budget right now!

sure. i only add the third wrap for bulk. its totally a personal preference. also, if your two scarves are longer, a third wrap might be uneeded.

thank you for the advice. i will try that . also i tried the latching method too. and i really like it.
