  • Guitar for Santan!

  • Guitar god!

  • Alan Holdsworth is what happens if you practise your scales over & over for 1000 years or so. :)

  • @dirtydonki Actually Alan has said that he doesn't practice much because otherwise he just ends up playing the same licks over and over again or something like that. I think he's aproach to guitar is different because he doesn't just play 3-note-per-string scales all day.

  • @mrkdui he plays different because his hands are so freakin huge, so why bother with usual fingerings..

  • I could play this! If I could have 5 live spans to learn it :-(

  • this sounds alot like Gambale's "yang" at first...

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahahahahahaaaaaaa jesus christ this is not possible

  • Not HUMAN; this is what a GENIUS look like....

  • Great camera angle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

  • ES UNICO EL MAESTRO ALLAN HOLDSWORTH ...HACE PARECER TAN SENCILLO SU EJECUCION ...ES ENDESCRIPTIBLEMENTE ASOMBROSO!!!

  • i feel as though age is slowly taking affect : / still amazing though lol

  • @almostam97 Age? Have you seen and listened to the video here at all? No-one is friggin able to play like this!

  • 1:55... wtf?

  • @largemoose +1

  • AH, the earth salutes you!

  • God that's an awful looking guitar thought

  • @brunthroath6912 perhaps, but they're damn near unbreakable.

  • I'm not the biggest AH fan, but I do have to say that just watching his fingers move is breathtaking. And I don't just mean in a technical or melodic way, I mean there's actually a visual beauty to how he moves across the fretboard.

  • some large positions are very stupids, because it's possible finding the same notes simply changing string!!!incredible!

  • Spectacular, but I wish Tony was still alive.

  • Holdsworth is something to behold, and his contemporary Rhett Tyler is also someone to behold!

  • This video has confirmed that Allan Holdsworth is the best guitarists in the known Universe.

  • AGREE!

  • @trevskiw2008

    you mean..

    in the cosmos...

    :P

  • Does this composition belong to Allan Holdsword?

  • Hi No, it was written by Alan Pasqua

    Take Care

  • thank you very much! :)

  • @SpiritNirvana

thank you very much! :) (after one year I send you a thank)

  • Seeing him Jan 2010 in Oakland. Saw Mike Stern Last night with Weckl and Randy Brecker... Incredible.

  • how's the venue there? I just missed out on buying tickets to the santa cruz one...

  • Allan went into something crazily cool sounding at 1.55-2.05 i would explain but who can explain Holdsworth i once tried to explain Holdsworth the best i can come up with is Shawn Lane but not as crazily fast but with even more complex phrasing, or a god. Holdsworth is just amazing.

  • wackerman is killin' it!!!

can't wait to see holdsworth in january!

  • his hands are huge and his guitar is so tiny

  • the neck is full size...

  • steinberger has 24 3/4" scale length (like les paul), the strat has a 25 1/2" scale length. So yes, the guitar is "tiny" and his hands are huge. He does the most ridiculous chord stretches.

  • The guy is awesome, saw him in Glasgow Scotland last year and he was blinding. Even spoke to Chad over a urinal, enough said about that

  • LOL unbelievable!

  • @Traitor73 many have spoken with Chad over a urinal and advanced in wisdom

  • Holdsworth is awesome. I spok to him briefly at a Chad Wackerman drum clinic. He has no idea how good he is...really. He said...get this...that he's just happy to be playing. I was happy he was playing!!!

  • The scale is 25.5" -believe or not (i should know since i have one; white w/ h-s-h pups and transtrem) =)

Il Maestros hands are just enormous!

  • Need any more proof that Allan is the man?

  • No, he is the man, in deed!!

  • my mind can't comprehend that lick from 1:55 to 2:05

  • I wish the sound was better, because it looks like a very interesting lick!

  • During that lick, look at his right hand - he's using pick plus fingers! He's the master - endless invention....

  • @Eflatmajor7sharp11 Yes, he tucks the pick in his hand (i believe between first and second finger) and brings it back out for long up and down runs...pretty amazing

  • very big hand...

  • the secret of Holdsworth isn´t in his tone settings is in his hands!

For me is the best guitar player.

  • How does he set up this H&K for his lead tone ?

  • so awesome

  • thank you so much for this video!!!
