  • i dont think mr marx relies how big and great wards collection of both real trains and model trains he hadin 1954 ward was about halfway there into the collection of model train sets i think he said he started his rampage of collecting model trains from many diffrent brand names right after ww2 and slowed down adter 1958 but this guy has one hell of a collection all prewar from thelate 1890s and he newest set he has was 1940-41 i dont think hes even when into collecting any postwar era of trains

  • Ward Kimball

    1914-2002

  • R.I.P ward

  • first i like to say thank for posting i wounder if ward was taking the host in ways and being insulted about his railroad? or just going along with the show whats the name of this show i would like to see more

  • Is this groucho marx? The guy looks a lot like him. love this :)

  • Ward Kimball is actually one of the key people that got Walt Disney interested in 1/3 scale trains that led to the formation of Disneyland. He and Walt were train enthusiasts that helped each other build model trains and often took trips to expo conventions together.

  • haha this is cool. us train guys take a lot of shit like this about r "steam engines" haha

  • Ha, oh Ward. If only they knew he CREATED Jiminy Cricket :)

  • "Walt Disney.... oh, you dirty crook"

I laughed so hard at that :D

  • I have finally found a hero. too bad he died in 2002.

  • unless i was informed incorrectly, hopefully i wasnt, but as ive been told that this was actually filmed twice. the first time ward talked circles around groucho, so they re-did it so groucho didnt look as dumb. of coursr, that could be wrong, ive never looked into it further.

  • 1:30 "i thought your face was familiar" *rofl*

ward was the funniest senior animator on the disney staff!

  • Ward Kimball hosted quite a few of the Disneyland TV shows from the 50s and 60s. You can see some of them on the Walt Disney Treasures DVD releases. Awesome stuff!

  • That is so funny, because Ward did some of the animating in Pinocchio!

  • Oh, and 5 plus 2 equals 7 LOL!!!

  • Note the mention of the sponsor and the hanging sign, I believe because these weren't censored this episode never made into syndication packages. Regardless, it's astounding how at ease Ward is, and he mixes it very well with Groucho. Note how scripted and moderately unfunny it began, because of this sweetening (laugh track) was added...but later when they go off on a tangent it becomes honestly funny, and then you can hear the audience's natural laughter

  • ukelele ike

  • The woman seems stunned - just let's Ward decide everything.

  • oh how wonderful. I could watch this on tv all day instead of the dribble thats shown now.

  • Funny how comfortable he was 'leaning' his arm on the woman's shoulder... WTF?

  • Kimball was an fantastic artist and musician for the Firehouse Five plus Two. He was the designer of Jiminy Cricket and others. Above all, he had to be a guy that had a zeal for living. Groucho must have been in heaven to meet this guy.

  • Heh, Ward got the secret word!
