No doubt. The komuz is basically a type of lute. The British Isles are chock-full of lute players, at least in my imagination, who roam the land playing for anyone anyone who'll toss 'em a crust of bread. I've yet to hear differently.
I like the aggressive rhythmic style of the Central Asian players. I wish I could play my ukulele that well.

Amazing playing of a fantastic chordophone, found this via youtube search, was a broken like from "Lute" on enWikiledia. You got to love the proportions of this instrument, the right and left hand technique, and the sheer virtuosity of the the artist. A Great Spirit!
