  • some people say that they made this song for kossoff.

  • Have to smile, the groups at the Isle of Wight were great but what's missing here is the mud and the smell, the mud was terrible.....BUT it didn't spoil the enjoyment or participation one bit !!!

  • THE greatest rock band ever to grace the Earth - no exceptions.... bar none.... dont want to fucking hear different

  • not the i of w or totp where are the audience dancers?

  • I doubt this is from the Isle of Wight, never seen camera work from that era like this except in studio performances. The quality of all the real isle of white footage is pretty rough. This looks very much like a mimed TV studio appearence.

  • of course Island records.. Chris Blackwell found all of the best

  • what's this song called??? it's fuckin great

  • @TininSkywithDiamonds This is "My Brother Jake" I guess.

  • Beautiful song....the lead guitar parts are hair raising, pure soul; RIP Paul.

  • i cant imagine he is miming and i think he would hate to have to do that!

  • i live on the isle of wight :)

  • You aren't the only one.....

  • wow, so we re three! But I havent seen you akmstarsun! ...and windella, was you the blond girl with the great ears?

  • This definitely Top of the Pops circa 1971

I know cause I saw the original transmission.

  • No way Isle of Wight

  • This is probably from a video release that includes some of if not all the Isle Of Wight footage...Paul sings it much better than the record here In My Humble Opinion:)

  • That's not Isle Of Wight, right?

  • damn this song sounds so fresh and creative compared to todays sounds

  • Was this Top of the Pops? Was Paul Rodgers miming and if so, why is this recording of the song different from those on CD? He adds an extra husky sound at the end of the phrasing on this, whereas on other recordings the endings are clipped.

  • This is "My Brother Jake", what a great song. You should put it in the title man.

  • He had a Les Paul which he got from Clapton when they swapped guitars during the Blind Faith US tour and also a white Strat which somebody (Maiden guitarist?) subsequently bought and spray-painted it black. Brilliant guitarist.

  • Koss played a strat alot towards the end, great in this.Different sound, maybe more versatile but I prefer the les paul for blues rock.

  • Lord, he's playing a Strat!!!!!!

  • kossof - genius, what a tragedy, and as for rogers - surely the most soulful white vioce ever, amen

  • more you listen better it gets

  • you're soooo right..wot a classic!!!!!

  • 81GBOYDOESWELL: you're soooooo right....

  • never heard this song , good song

  • one of my favourite songs

  • I'm wondering if someone knows if this sellout attempt on the part of Free paid off for them. In other words, was this song a hit?

  • IIRC it was a minor hit. These days you only ever hear "All right now" which got to #1 at least twice in the UK. Pity their other stuff hardly ever gets played.

  • This is not Isle of wight footage, it's a TV performance not so rare (is on a official video release) and playpack too!

  • Kossoff on a strat? sacrilege! He's still amazing though.

  • The Dog's bollocks!

  • Wow that was beautiful. Thank you for this rare clip. After viewing this I can really see now why people said Paul looked like a caveman back then.
