One thing (one of many) I love about Bridge Commander. It's limited only by the power of the computer and imagination/skill. Well... until someone makes an effort to create a ridiculously incompatible OS...
Rifeman80, I enjoy all your video's. Excellent job everyone of them. I build starships myself out of cardboard and tape. I've even managed to build the Consitution class along with some of my own designs. However this video leaves me feeling sad for this ship which is being deconstructed to become a building?! I don't see how that is honoring her long years of survival and service? She should be given a place where she can be ADMIRED for the grand lady that she is. In My Opinion.
@P54cause Think of it as a final mission of exploration: into the souls of the Bajoran people. Of course, it would be even more fitting (and useful) to make her into a SCHOOL, allowing her to broaden people's minds one last time.....
Any of u all ever play the Star Trek online game.Once u make Ltcdr u can get ur Constitution class starship name it and give it a number it's not a bad game but it is fun oh yeah u can get a Soverign class ship to but only after u make rear admiral
Any of u all ever play the Star Trek online game.Once u make Ltcdr u can get ur Constitution class starship name it and give it a number it's not a bad game but it is fun
Imagine the internal refits of that ship! And such a memorable design to boot! Survived the Borg and Dominion only to go out in peace and dignity, love it!
This is indeed the classiest Starfleet design of all time. With the losses incurred by Starfleet to the Borg and the Dominion would it not be better to upgrade this starship rather than give away to be used as a temple!!!?
There is absolutely no way they would scrap Garrovick's ship (and Kirk's first posting) for a temple. Especially with half of Enterprise-D lying on a pre-space flight world. As to the REFIT, there ain't no -A after 1664. It's the Exeter, just the same. Nicely done, however.
My apologies - sleep deprevation. Confused Excalibur with Farragut. Anyways, Starfleet would've stripped the ship of all technology (including warp drives) and dismantled her in situ over Bajor, after a warp tug towed her there.
Why break the damn thing up just to build yet another temple? Give it to them intact. Even at 105 she's still more advanced than anything the Bajorans have.
Nice video, but no way in hell would Starfleet allow a ship to be broken up with such an age and past. They only have 1 or two of them left. The Enterprise-A (which was never shown to be destroyed in canon) or this one. The Eagle was destroyed at Wolf 359
I believe the registry number on the old Star Trek Model Kits had the USS Excalibur as NCC-1705 with the Constellation being NCC-1017 and the Defiant being NCC-1764. As with all things in Star Trek there can be many explanations. This "Class" of Starship was called the "Enterprise II" and the Old Constitution class Refit remained somewhat different. Either way well done!
@BoyUSMC The model reflected the 'named ships' and registry numbers. Excalibur was NCC-1764, then in the Blueprints Roddenberry put NCC-1705- 5 th in the line of the new Constitution class heavy Cruiser. We could run with the 1705 since it Excalibur was taken out by the M-5 Controlled Enterprise, The new Registry from the new model, and its new assignment.
I loved this; this brought tears to my eyes. The Constitution class was always my favorite (and always will be.) I was playing with my Betamax copy of TMP while I was watching this :)
@thebigb59 If Enterprise was launched after Excalibur then her registry number should be 1665. Unless she was built 37 ships later. I also remember the USS Constitution having a regisry number of 1700. So all ships should continue in that order. Anyway, nice chaten with ya, and rifle, good job on the vid.
@davideshafer Well I don't know much about the how the early UFP did resisgtry numbers, but yes it should of been an 17** number, maybe it could of been a refit or like the defintant a special renamed ship. Either way, your right
I feel that the Constitution class definately had the best look. Why the designers of all the space battles for DS9 did not have any Constitution classes is beyond me. They had Miranda and Excelsior classes which were almost the same age of class. As Trailltrader wrote just do all the upgrades and reclassify as light cruisers. I would think that Constitutions would be better to upgrade and keep in service than Mirandas.
I guess that the designers of the battles for DS9 felt that having Constitutions as cannon fodder and getting blown away as quickly and easily as the Mirandas and Excelsiors did in the battles with the Dominion would have taken away from the Mystique of the class and die hard Constituion class fans would have had a hard time seeing those classic ships being destroyed so easily.
This is a beautifuly done video. The Consitution class starship was simple and elegant for the times and my favorite. Keep up the great work RifleMan 80.
Fantastic as always. The long "trek" of a ship on it's very last mission to it's deconstuction over Bajor. Majesticly done and very spiritural as you watch her glide to her destiny. Wow.
one thing that makes this ship my favorite is that it was based of a 60's design. Simple yet elegant. Now-a-days, all spaceships seem overly complicated and hard to look at, and are often given a dark-grey hull to be even harder to look at. Why don't they make starships like they use to anymore? Why they didn't make a episode with a Consitiuion-Class [refit] starship is beyond me.
There no reason to pull them from service simply because they're old- the frames good so do the upgrades at the 20 year mark as designed, and reclassify them as light instead of heavy cruisers
Just like the old racehorse finally being let out to pasture. A superb video. I love the refit constitution class starship - a very graceful design. One would presume the Excalibur-A would jump straight to the Excelsior design? Many thanks.
The original Excalibur NCC-1664 was never destroyed during the TOS series. Nothing says this ship isn't that ship. Maybe this Excalibur became a training vessel. If the original ship got a refit then there would be no need for an "A" designation. Anyways.....Great vid RM!

A ship like this does not deserve to go out as a temple. As a fitting tribute to times gone by, she should become a museum ship.

@SSGLew Not all ships renamed had a "bloddy A" after it. The Defient has at least had 3 different ships with 3 different registry's.

@thebigb59 So why did the USS Enterprise have a registry number of 1701?

@davideshafer It might be due to the Enterprise being launched after the Excalibur, thats just my guess.
