  • Very good tutorial. Loved it. I've never converted an autocad drawing to 3dsmax before, but that was a pretty good job!

  • When I go to render setup, I do not have the tab "indirect illumination". I am using 3dsMax 2010....what am i doing wrong?

  • @ArjanHIv Assign the Render Engine to Mental Ray.

  • @ArjanHIv u must select the renderer as mental ray renderer... then u will see..

  • This tutorial was really useful, it's always a bit hit and miss when I do a lighting setup, hopefully this will help hone my renders. Loved the traffic in the background of the other parts, lol.

  • thanks for the advice, I will surely do that in my next video tutorial.

  • Well, what was new for me was the stuff about the use of those AEC-objects so thanks especially for that. May I suggest that for future videos you should try writing down a few key words or even a script or check list? This surely would make it more easy for you to find the words and for us t follow your instructions. Thanks.

  • You don't even know how much you thought me and how happy I am! :D Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

  • i got a? im wrkin on somthng but the lighting is no buenocan i send you the file a you do the lighting for me i have tried tuts but everytime i render the screen is bright white

    im goin crazy

  • Dude, you rock! Love the sounds in the background.

I followed your tutorials and produced my 1st amazing interior image. As an Architect, this new skill will now allow my creativity to be expressed as I want it to be expressed.

One point : How do I get to see a "natural sky" through the doors instead of the glow / haze.

    Thanks ever so much!

  • @ArchyD40 Go to exposure settings and set exposure value a little bit higher.

  • Thank u so much! greetings from Brazil.

  • Important question : Did you unhide the glasses before taking the Renders?!

  • nice tutotials.

  • Thanks 5 Times for 5 tutorials.

Bro U can hav a cold drink with me whenever u want...

  • i like you man..! great@

  • i love you man!!! hehe thanx for the vid

  • thank you very much!!! *-* You just saved me :D

  • My windows don't glow white like yours does :[ They remain black when I render the image, but the photons are still coming through. What am I doing wrong?

  • @tonywhite2259 did you apply material correctly to windows?

  • @nfguler I believe so, like this tutorial said, I separated the window pane polys and I put in the correct material... maybe I missed a step making the material, disallowing light to pass through.. one thing I HATE about youtube tutorials is how hard it is to see the values that he's putting in, and all of that. He does a good job of explaining, so maybe it's just something I missed, I don't know. However, I've recently got vray, which is a lot easier to generate realistic lighting..

  • excellent tut!! two thumbs up!!

  • ohh, this is the best tutorial ! thank you! I work witch 3dmax

  • umm, i still cant kind of get it how did you add the "glow" to the windows? i tried effects-glow but it doesnt work with mr. thanks

    plz help.. on mohitarnold@gmail.com

  • Great tutorial dude, Thx

  • Its really Good tuto...But Do you have answer for rendering time of mental ray?? not helping me for animation

  • THKS MAN, BRAVO!!!

  • I have roblem with CAUSTIC.... When I click render there is an error. about caustic generator.

  • @Turismaakadjmailo same problem :(

  • same problem

  • thank U man

  • At last, Five stars!!

  • yes...great tutorial..and a great man. thank you very much!!! hope you'll continue doing this. = )

  • thx for the great tutorial!!! I'm really sure it will help alot of pple ( including me :D )

and btw I got a question 4 ya...I'm having problems with the skylight portal I can't use visible in render, so what should I do...can u help me a lil bit with that? I would be thanksfull... thx

  • thanks "eXess007", i am glad you liked it and I didn't get your question properly, could you please explain it more

  • hehe sorry my english kinda sucks...

uhmm my question is about the skyportal

I cant make it " see in render " , u know the white color outside ur windows...I just can see the skylight map which comes with the MR skylight ( sunlight sistem ) in my renders...if u still don't understand maybe I should use my english diccionary :P ( don't make me do that :P ) thx .

  • I think you should use the Dictionary, LOL

or if you can send me screenshots of your scene so i can understand better

  • @eXcess007 I don't know if you still haven't got the answer but your problem is because of exposure control. Your exposure value is too high. Go to exposure settings and select from presets "daylight interior".

  • @nfguler don't worry I made it right so many months ago...and I found so many ways to make it....for example just making the MR phisical sky just to bright really strongly ( everything white ) and well whenever I render I render in RPF format so the outside window just show me black ( couse the alpha channel ), and the reason I render it in RPF its becouse I get an obj buffer ID different for every obj in my escenes so later on I can make color corrections and that kinda stuffs on combustion

  • to watch ur demo just type on console "viewdemo xXNek0jinXx" and the Cs will play ur demo...now if you wanna make a video ( but without sound ) type viewdemo + name of the demo and when it starts type startmovie 30 ( the Cs will create 30 images per second in ur cs folder ) and later u can get all thouse images together using some program ( use videomatch its really easy to use )

hope u get it ( my english kinda sucks )

  • Outstanding tutorials man, very complete, thanks a lot for your efforts.

  • great tutorial thank u

  • Thank you! It helped me a lot in indoor rendering! Keep on uploading! :)

  • thanks for your comments MR.mci7511 and sure I will give it a try.

  • great tutorial!! i learn a few tricks thanks. do you ever use the align command when ur modeling? it's "Alt A" it works great when i do architectural models. takes a while to get used to but i can't work with out it.
