PC - My ASUS P5QL Pro

i have asus p5ql pro mobo and q6700 processor how and how far could i overclock please. i have a 850 pro power supply too and a a sparkle gtx 275 overclocked gpu. any advice or help would be greatly appreciated regards : kayak1969p

if you have a good cpu cooler i think u can overclock it to 4GHz . to overclock ur cpu go to the bios and increase CPU bus speed and CPU core voltage to get it stable. but take care, u can destroy ur cpu if ur temps are too high

any downsides with this Mobo you've noticed? I ordered one recently, seems fine to me, my only consern is how "smooth" it runs 1066mhz ddr2, I mean it says "with overclock" does that mean I have to set latency, fsb and voltage myself then with 1066mhz ram?

i didn't installed this mobo yet cuz i didn't received my cpu and graphic card yet so i can say it there is downsides. and for overclock ofc u need to set the fsb, voltage, etc by urself. But this mainboard is known for be a rly nice mobo for overclocking so dont worry.

some reviews said the "power mobo connector" was in a bad place, but imo its quite nice, specialy when having a psu at the buttom of the chase

@speltips You don't have to set your voltage, but stock latancy with this board is 5-5-5-18! I got mine at 4-5-5-10 stable but the FSB is a challenge to get to 1066. With my CPU anyway. Dnt know about other setups but with the E8200 it wont let me go higher than 851. so im stuck on 4.2Ghz CPU, FSB 1700mhz, CPU 425Mhz*8 and ram @ 851. :( If any1 has any suggestions to get this higher im open to ideas as I have tried most things!

well when I got this board like a month ago my rams ran auto at like 5-6-6-18 timings with 1.8v and only at 800mhz, even tho the rams are rated 1066mhz 2.1v

anyway I set it manually instead and it seems to work great, in terms of O.C I wonder since the MB is rated up to 1600mhz fsb, what happens if you exeed that, might just make the card unstable or?

I got my q9550 with 1600fsb to 3.4ghz, but dont rly want to exeed the MB limit, or maybe its fine?, my temps are good anyway.

@speltips I meant 3.4Ghz for my clock speed lol. Dont worry about a thing with this board it wont fry itself, it will cut out waaaay before that happens. You can put ur timings down to 5-5-5-15 no problem for your RAM. and you can push your CPU to 425*8 with no problems what so ever! leave your RAM on 1:1 and just match it with your CPU. Its just easier that way. what Vcore are you using just out of interest?

me 2 have the ASUS P5QL PRO and i have 1 E5300 in my motherboard is normaly on 2,60Ghz and i have overclock to 3,60Ghz no prob in air cooling my cpu go to 45 or 47 degres max in charge i like this motherboard and i buy 1 new cpu soon i have 200€ for cpu and i dont say what is the best cpu for this motherboard u say help me for the choice sorry for my bad english im french
