Lucky Charms were invented in 1962 when John Holahan decided to mix Brach's Circus Peanuts with Cheerios. Lucky (or, as originally called L.C. Leprechaun) was created in 1963 and it finally came out in 1964. An advertising company employed by General Mills and Company suggested marketing the new cereal around the idea of charm bracelets. Thus the charms of Lucky Charms were born.
