  • Wasn't this episode surposed to be before Pop goes the diesel? if it does then Donald Douglas Bill Ben and Diesel haven't been introduced yet. But Henry Terence and Harold should have been invited to see City of Truro.

  • the engine dosnt show his face

  • @58goj58 neither does Henrietta but she still speaks

  • I love that sound effects when he goes around the corner and I hear his wheels pounding on the rails! I LOVE THAT SOUND!

  • it always bugged me that the City of Turo never had a face, The Flying Scottsman did in the books..

  • On 2nd thought, the engine's real name is "City of Turo" although I thought my idea was funny. XD

  • i had the famous train, in the old toy line

  • was Gordon trying to move the freight cars with steam?

  • "He's famouser than you"

    Lol! I love Thomas

  • I still have the die-cast model of that "celebrity" engine

  • @ULTIMAFOX22

The actual name of the engine is "City of Truro", well-known for being the first ever locomotive to obtain a speed of 100mph.

  • 1:16 the Visitor's name revealed?

    "Famous the Famous Engine"

  • The only thing about this is I didn't think that miles were used in England, but if I'm wrong, please tell me.

  • @Mashfan6507 Miles were always used in England, and still are.

  • how come gordon always slags everyone of then he does something stupid or has an accident. still my fav engine anyway.

  • is that the flying scostsman?

  • @kfsryakunt09

    no, it's City of Truro

  • 88 MILES AN HOUR!!!

  • i recall the book story being before Donald and Douglas being introduced

  • pause at 00:16 city of truros face is black!!!!!!!!

  • @dogloverobx

That is the same as his face looked in Duck and The Diesel

  • What the hell is Diesel doing back on Sodor?

  • TREVER or TREVERS BROTHER DDOOODODODODO 00:01

  • Isn't he supposed to be Gordon's brother?

  • @SalukAntiwii he is in the classic books but not in the tv series

  • @SalukAntiwii no thats flying scotsman in tenders for henry/tender engines (TV) but they messed it up on the TV serise by showing just the two tenders

  • after i thought about it, i have a good explanation why Diesel is shown and why trucks (instead of people) laughed at gordon. it's possible this episode is out of production order and actually took place during diesel's first visit. then after gordon lost his domw, diesel told it to the trucks saying duck told him. after all, this episode came before dirty work in the books

  • @mysterio5productions There are offer eps set betwteen pop goes the diesal and dirty work. One about James, the other Henry.

  • @mysterio5productions you make a good point and it would make sense

  • I still don't get why they didn't use City of Truro's name in the UK series. I know no one from the US would know what engine he was.

  • @rushs11 It seems like in the third season Allcroft and Mitton wanted to sever all ties with real places and real engines. Then it got really stupid in season 4 with the Narrow tracks everywhere and the Bluebell Railway on Sodor... they must have decided the series was for kids rather than rail enthusiasts, but they didn't consider an important part of the audience... kids who *are* rail enthusiasts!

  • @rushs11 i do,i love looking up foreign trains, that why i know about the city of truro and about the railroad this show was based off of

  • A bird could have use Gordon's dome as a floating nest :)

  • "I never boast, but 100 MPH would be easy for me!"

he does, a few sentences earlier..

    "Famouser than me!? Nonsense!"

    lolz

  • Aaaahhh this makes me all nostalgic. Used to love this ep as a little girl, too :)

  • The city of Truro is actually a real locomotive which worked on the London to North East line. It is now at the National railway museum in York.

  • @Visonu City of Truro of 1903 was a Great Western engine (London and the south west), so that's how Duck knows who he is! The lack of a dome is pure GWR.

  • This is my favorite story from Series 3! I loved it a lot when I was a kid, and I still love it now. It's so cool to see the Sodor engines interacting with an engine that existed in real life.

  • ere from 0:14 - 0:19 he has a face

  • lol in the first shot at 0:01 it shows diesel. i think that diesel was supposed to be introduced in the next episode after this

  • you know "City of Truro's" model was a "dummy" model, meaning it had no motors or driving gears. It was later repainted and used a "scrap" model in later episodes

  • is that the city truro?

  • @andersinnevada yh it is

  • I was part of the crew on the City of Truro 2 days ago. What an engine!

  • I just love steam engines going FAST!

  • SAme!

  • pause at 00:02 omg look closely right at the side diesel 10

  • ahahaha

  • wot is it

  • What?

  • Diesel1 Actually Deisel 10 is Dark Yellow
