  • such a good lookin motor

  • Starts in less then a second after 6 months of winter storage. They say it starts on the first revolution. First I thouht it's just a PR stunt. Apparently not. 4 years already. Not a single problem. 150HP. People in my my marina who have modern 4 strokes just can't beleave it.

  • Sounds sweet!!

  • hey i need help!!! how do you connect the garden hose to the motor?? do i need to buy something? can someone please me. thank you.

  • @Stefers14 Devi prendere una CUFFIA lavaggio motore

  • Damn quiet for an outboard.

  • sounds like a four stroke idling out of water...but put it in water and still have that annoying buzzy 2 stroke sound. unfortunately

  • @stdavross666 Annoying? The sound is the best part of a 2 stroke, and the etec is one of the best sounding 2 strokes. The optimax I find has an annoying sound, yamaha hpdi sounds real nice

  • @wipenoutx yes the etec is the best sounding but still cant compare to the noise level of a 4 stroke in the water. Evinrude are close but not quite there. Silence is the name of the game with these engines. If you want 2 stroke noise buy a standard engine. if you want a silent 2 stroke that runs a bit nicer and is easier to start buy an etec.

  • @stdavross666 I have an etec, and it's not that quite. Sure it quite compared to the original carburatered v90 that was on it, but I would never buy an engine to be quite.

  • You cant catch any fish or see any bikini's like that....

  • @xXHUNTERXxXx good point

  • is that a 4 stroke i cant tell

  • nah e-tecs are like improved 2-strokes i think

  • Yes, E-Tec's are 2-stroke engines with direktinjektion.

  • no it's a Direct Injected 2 stroke... CARB Legal, 3 stars.

  • dude, no it is not a four stroke. evinrude doesnt make a four stroke. as for being able to tell without knowing, the engine is not the size of a car and the trailer's tires are not flat from the weight of a four stroke.

  • i got a 90 Yamaha on my 17 boston whaler doing 38 mph

  • nice i got a 75 jonny on mines and I'm doing close to 40.... but I think my hull is a little shorter 16'7"....

  • @sxr951

90 Yam on 17 Whaler does 38 mph? My 75 HP E-Tec does 46 mph on the same boat, trimmed properly

  • What kinda boat is this guessing a center concle

On mine the max hp is 90 and i got a 17' CC Baymaster

  • What size boat is that? and how fast is it pushing it?

  • 17' under right conditions max 53-54

  • Fuel Injected allways sounds so good to bad it was built sooner.

  • is that a whaler?

  • Keywest

  • Key West

  • This guy is going to destroy his engine. the water pump indicator is out which is why water is just flowing out of the back of the engine. this should only be taken off when flushing the engine with a hose with the engine OFF. you can hook up a hose there but can't run it then. there just insn't enough water pressure to cool the engine.

  • which guy are you referring to?

  • he has a hose going into the motor with still goes into the intake to cool the motor. You can do that with an evinrude all you want. You can destroy a merc though.

  • @tomyob Not true, all E-TECs use a pressure/temperature controlled cooling system, and are fine to run with the indicator nipple removed. Pressure is controlled by a pressure relief valve in the block, and temperature is controlled by a thermostat, or in the case of the V4 and V6's two thermostats located in each cylinder head.

  • @tomyob your wrong...I know of the indicator your talking about and it is only on 150hps and up for the E-tecs. The 130hps and lower E-tecs dont have it and the water just flows out the back.

  • Sweet. :)

Been trying to look for who sells a 25 or 30hp E-Tec near my place, as I'd like one day to replace our 25hp Johnson. I've gotten tired of premixing, and the smoking.

  • im not sure if they make E-Tecs that small the smallest one i have seen was a 40 i could be wrong thoe

  • They do make 'em that small; check out Evinrude's website.

  • they have a 25hp i believe,,,

  • @geoBM818 they also have 15's

  • Yup... It's definitely a two-stroke.

  • wow - I have an old 1989 carb. 100 hp outboard - it is nothing like this. I got to get a newer outboard. How did you decide to go with e-tec?

  • johnson/Evinrude has always been the way to go

  • I have always owned johnson/evinrude. I did alot of research, and just really decided this was the best way to go.. Motor is everything that they promised.

  • Why use muffs, Etec has threaded port for hose when flushing/ running

  • too right

  • yes but that's only if you're winterizing it because it changes the direction that the water comes out of the motor. It's like the motor running its intake in reverse.

  • nice motor
