  • Best commercial ever lol.

  • Wow... thanks Mean Joe!

  • saw a parody of this on family guy!!!

  • great clip .. keep it up thanks

  • This is my first recognizable and most memorable coca-cola commercial Ever!!! I remember seeing this as a little girl around age 5 while living in the Bahamas. This commercial makes me smile.

  • he didn't even burp

  • you can';t help but smile watching this ad...they don';t make em like that anymore

  • I had the pleasure of sitting with this gentleman yesterday and talking for about 20 minutes. We were both at a car wash waiting on our cars. What a gentle giant of a man.

  • thumbs up if family guy brought u here

  • @SwaggaSoSick32 A refreshing (glass) bottle of Coca-Cola brought me here. Thumbs-up if a nice, refreshing Coke brought you here. And stop with the "thumbs-up if Family guy brought you here" bullshit. Just because one of Family Guy's many random pop-culture references brought a few teenagers here doesn't mean that we all care about Family Guy. I, personally, care more about refreshing Coca-Cola.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham Lol calm down dude why are you getting worked up on a comment

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham p.s you're 6 months late... lol

  • I actually meant that I saw a parody of this commercial that contained the character House (the title character of the show House). Sorry for the confusion in my wording lol

  • back then commercial was better,

  • See? Now that the difference between commercials then and commercials now. Commercials then were genuine.

  • I wish all of the commercials were peacefull and hippi-like.

    I miss the good times.

  • troy polamalu's is better

  • @normalboy64 maybe, but Troy aint better than Joe

  • @normalboy64 Yeah. O.K.

  • For a second I thought Mean Joe was gonna peg the kid with the coke bottle.

  • @xXReederzXx HAHAHA, me too!

  • such a beautiful commercial.....to bad im a browns fan :)

  • Kids response" I meant a sip jackass!"

  • Hey kid,catch

  • I remember this when it played...still great.

  • Just saw a parody of this with House! Amazingly hilarious it was. This one's touching :)

  • @Sayanora53 u know someone called house?

  • an all time classic super bowl commercial!

  • I am in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM a Steelers fan and I'm from the Pittsburgh area. But this is a classic commercial.

  • The phrase is similar to a Latin translation of a variation of Heraclitus' 10th fragment, "Out of all things one, one out of all things."

  • This was not a "Superbowl Ad" and it debuted before 1980.

  • 10 more days.

  • First off, It debuted in September of 1979

Second, It DID NOT DEBUT when Super Bowl XIV was broadcast!

  • @Pookatube You are correct! Nobody knew anything about special "Superbowl ads" back then anyway. Superbowl ads are a relatively new cultural phenomenon that frankly is way overblown and overhyped!

  • lol He got a smusty ass towel

  • @MrMister1227 was his shirt, not a towel

  • The security at that stadium is pretty lax.

  • Kid: "Mr Greene, do you need any help?"

Joe Greene: "Yeah...Give me a back rub then come by and paint my house"

Kid: "I was just gonna give you my coke"

Joe: "Sorry kid, the league is careful about its players and illegal drugs...unless the drugs are steroids"

Kid: "I'm sorry I asked. Where's Franco? Is he hurt?"

Joe: "If you keep bothering me, I'll have Jack Lambert smash your face into the wall"

the director: "CUT! CUT! CUT! Have you two even read the script?"

  • And now mean Joe Green is in the nursing home asking someone for a coke and some Gerital. LOL

  • Have a coke and smile and shut the fuck up

  • OK, sad kid...grumpy football player...sad kid...and...HOLY FUCK SURPRISE PRODUCT PLACEMENT

  • which family guy episode ????

  • @xscbr600 I don't know which episode, but 'Family Guy' did a random parody of it. They parody (or pay tribute to) a lot of things from the '80s, though they're so random that it's very hard to tell which episode has which.

  • @Dirtfire the episode where stewie needs a uranium rod or smething from the nazis, awesome

  • @CrazyTrainisawesome It's "Road To Germany"

  • That's the kid from teen wolf he played the boy with the whistle he also played in honey I shrunk the kids.

  • the family guy one is funny

  • damn he can chug a coke

  • @loza113 with no huge belch afterward! Now that's a man!

  • They should do this with Brett Favre or Tom Brady

  • @shroyuken they already did a funny version with palumalu

  • He's just about more famous for this commercial than his movie career

  • That was on family guy

  • Now I want a coke, wait I'm drinking one now haha....wow 1980 I rmber this commercial I was 9 years old

  • Joe Green was an all pro and was so tough he was commonly called Mean Joe Green. I saw the original commercial, and crack up every time I see it. It is so creative and popular I read that this one commercial alone made Joe Green $20, 000. It is the only football commercial over all the year remember in detail .

  • @dolphin330 that jersey from the commercial alone might be worth more than $20,000 today.

  • I have a signed pic of this commercial!!!!! love it!!!

  • loved it :D but he drank that coke and didnt stop o_O didnt the fizz bubble up inside??? :o he would splode

  • that kid can't act for shit. Who is in charge of hiring children actors.. they always seem to fuck up and hire the worst little shits to ever attempt acting

  • aww crap i just swallowed two pieces of gum while laghing due to the family guy quote of this

  • @jamaicasnumber1 what episode was it i luv family guy

  • Mean Joe? LOL His name is really something.

  • ass

  • Go die. this is a classic. you probably weren't around in the eighties, so you wouldn't know Mean Joe. But respect the classics. This was Epic.

  • I remember when this ad aired. I thought it was the most touching thing I had ever seen. I'm a guy and I know I must be a sap but this ad made tear a little.

  • I remember a FUNNY blooper from this same ad that aired once on "TV's Censored Bloopers". In it, as Mean Joe Greene is getting ready to throw his towel to the kid, he said "Hey kid... BELCH!!!!!" I was ROFL at that one!!

  • This ad didn't debut in a Suoper Bowl. It actuall debut on Monday Night Football in October 1979.

The BEST Super Bowl was the Apple "1984" ad.

    Say no more!!!

  • yes..and I would rather have his Jersey....any day....the greatest DT ever

  • I don't want his sweaty towel. Ew! I don't get that, people wanting sweaty towels from star athletes. And they have the nerve thinking you DO want it. If it were me, I'd say, he, dude , if YOU don't want your sweaty towel, what makes you think I want it? lol

    Cute commerical though.

    ;)

  • It's his shirt, slightly more valued, though no doubt, equally as sweaty.

  • probably make 20k on ebay...

  • this was a great commercial.

  • Agree. This must be among the best ever.

I'm just glad Mean Joe didn't throw the bottle back, have it break all over the place, the kid would have to go to the ER and have stitches in his hand, the Pittsburgh Steelers & NFL & Mean Joe & Coca Cola & the stadium & guy who sold the coke & whoever else all get sued by an ambulance chaser lawyer asking for $8 trillion ... That's what would happen today.

  • I love this one. Mean Joe is really a big, softie.

  • I remember back in 1980, there was a special called "All Commercials... A Steve Martin Special"

In one skit, it was instead a young Japanese teenager and a sumo wrestler. The kid offer the wrestler his Coke. To show his appreciation, the wrestler tossed the kid his loin cloth. I laughed my head off.

  • Such an awesome classic! And mean Joe was an extravigant player!

  • hahahha good commercial.. but this is way better

    watch?v=E5qqp3WXGrE

  • classic

  • i love when family guy spoofs this.

  • they should of done the new one like this one

  • they Did It has Polomalo

  • Best Superbowl commercial ever.

  • wow old school commercial right here and a good 1 at that, this stuff's older than me,but wow good ad.

  • Sorry. Wrong, as I was there. Filmed at New Rochelle stadium in NY. Both were there together. Nice try.

  • this is better then the new 1

  • Jersey probably stunk to high heaven though. XD

  • that was hilarious man haha

  • Wonder what happened to that kid..

  • you don't want to know....

  • He killed himself

  • really? Joe must have taken the jeresy back.

  • best commercial in existence

  • hey isn't that kid from the santa clause movie??

  • It's ok you can have it...

  • WOW THANKS MEAN JOE!!

i love how family guy have spoofed this like 3 times

  • lol yeah hes not so mean at all!

  • they have a pepsi commercial that tryed to be like this. the pepsi commercial was kinda a copy off.

  • wow thats a fail

  • How can anybody drink an entire bottle of Coke like that and not burp?

  • racisist

  • is a racisist someone who discriminates racists or something?

  • its just another word for droolin, slack jawed fuckin moron.

  • If you look at his commentry of Troy's spoof of this, he wants to ask how many bottles troy had to drink, and it shows him burping at least 3 times

  • would have been funnier if he threw the coke bottle at the kid hahaha

  • @panyotz "Hey kid" *kid turns around* SMASH! Bwhahaha that wouldve been hilarious xD

  • Nice video but you spelled Joe Green wrong its Grene.

  • Wrong, it is spelled with 3 E's. Mean Joe sent me an autographed picture when I was 8, nearly 40 years ago, so I know for a fact it is spelled GREENE!!

  • One of the most iconic commercials of all time.

  • if that was today that jersey would be on Ebay tomm.!!

  • aw reminds me of the one in the comercial we had just now

  • it is. the one wit troy polamolu is a spoof on this one

  • yeaaboyy13....THANKS for noticing Troys was a spoof on this one!!!!

  • haha its so lame but i love it

    Her kid, catch

    pfft

  • pretty nice :)

  • I always enjoy seeing a classic!

  • troy potamlu did a version for superbowl 43 hahahahhahaha

  • Yeah. Wasn't it funny?

But this one is a CLASSIC!

    GO STEELERS!

  • There was a Japanese version of this commercial. It involved a sumo wrestler. I'll let all of you imagine how that one turned out. LOL

  • To airdriver - Considering what Sumo's wear in their match compared to football players, I hope he didn't throw the kid his...garment O_O

  • WOW! THANKS MEAN JOE!

  • HAY KID! Catch!

  • i love this year's ad and this 1!!!

the Cards still should have won though...

  • i agree!!!!!!

  • But they didn't did they?

  • if you're 13 technically you're not "preteen"

  • Yo, shut the fuck up ya racist. What the hell is wrong with you?

  • lol you spend all your time on the computer calling people you don't know niggers.Get a life.

  • hahaha its true and fuck selos 23

  • Seems oddly familiar to this years ad

  • thats the point...

  • it was a spoof of it remember the coke ppl were so mad at them stealing their commercial

  • i wouldn't want his sweaty wet towel

  • dude it was his jersey dipshit

  • That's a bit ummm much for a commercial as simple as this.

  • Got to say , that was a good commercial

  • he should have thrown the bottle.

  • it wuldve been hilarious if he threw the bottle lmaoo

  • cards and seahawks should have beat the steelers!!!!

  • I love it!...I have not seen it since I was 11 and back then me a my friends used to mimic this commercial...Mean Joe Greene....Your the Greatest!....Ever!...

  • This was used in the Disney movie "Miracle"

  • yea i heard about the polamalu remake, may not be as legendary, but it should be pretty cool anyways. GO Steelers!

  • STEELERS SUCK!!!

  • Yeah, that's why they've been to more Super Bowls than any other team and may be about to win their sixth... asshat.

  • Thats why they are winning right now, right?

  • FUCK YOU GINGERTITS!!

    STEELERS 09

  • oh really? doesnt seem that way to me? super bowl champs, once again? hmm=] sir, you suck.

  • That's right! Detroit is where it is at!

  • I'm a Tom Landry era Cowboys fan so naturally we didn't care much for Pittsburgh since they kept beating us in the Super Bowl, but this commercial almost turned me into a Steelers fan....almost, heh.

  • want my cocaine?

  • they're doin a remake tonight with troy polomalu.

  • Yeah, I'm excited for this ad, but I don't think it would be as epic as the original...no?

  • Lol so corny but so cool.

  • This is just a classic. This and Apple 1984. The two best ever.

  • I was in college when this came out. Still the best SB commercial ever!

  • Absolutely perfect for all the little boys

who play and enjoy watching football.!!

Why is everyone so negative. Grow up.

Yea he did not look too happy,..but goodness..he was in pain.

  • THE BEST COMMERCIAL EVER, GOOD
