Beautiful film, great job guys. I so grieve for the loss of the post-war dream. It was beautiful but flawed. It wasn't just the buildings that were flawed, it was some of the people living in them, the officials, the economy, the infrastructure and more. We can't expect 'them' to build a better life for us. We all have to take responsibility for building a better future. If we had all taken that responsibility then, we might be living in the Utopia that the post-war dream was based on.
Well, I lived in G/2,Allermuir Court from '72 till '74.
It wasn't the best of times for me and yea it's sad to see many many peoples happy memories go, but personally for me it's a kind of closure...My mum commited suicide by jumping from one of the fire escape balconies :(
@fizmut Just saw this link, very sad to hear about your loss ,i lived in Capelaw G/2,left forever in1973 ,so,i probably knew you, hope you had/have a good life,
Born in Capelaw in 1964, moved away in 1981That building will be with me 'til the day I die. I loved the place, so many memories, good and bad. Cried like a kid the day of the blow down, I turned away when Capelaw began to fall, I just couldn't watch it all crumble away.I still go back sometimes, but it's not the same without the three blocks, it's somehow not as homely, not as safe.Fantastic film, thank you so much.
i really loved this movie. me and all my family are from oxgangs although i never lived in the flats but ive visted alot mostly to watch the a-team on jainie hienz's tv on saturdays :)
I like the style of your films. You let the images speak for themselves. The music enhances the mood. Well done. I lived in Edinburgh for 30 years and you have captured the light, and beauty of the place. Thank you.
@genesisduke72 hey i no warren anderson , if its the same guy last time i saw him he was livin at robertson avenue near gorgie , hes about 35 / 36 ? tricia
Aw,great film guys.Horrific & sad, but beautifully done.I lived in Caerketton from a baby in 72 til 92 & have many happy memories of there. My brother Scott & I came from London & Brighton to watch the demolition from behind Oxgangs Ave & it broke my heart.I can't believe they're gone -- which is probably why I keep watching clips like yours to make them real again.*Sob* Though I do have a lump of Caerketton concrete which I treasure! Thanks for sharing this.Lesley Jeavons(nee Ainslie)

So you see, I was happy to see them go.

Fair comment. Good enough reason to say good riddance to them.
Cheers

I really like this film. I was feeling a bit homesick for Edinburgh, and somehow found this. It really is a beautiful video.
Can anyone tell me what the music is?

Very sad. I had mates who lived in Allermuir. Lloyd Crocker, Alan McCabe, Warren Anderson. If any of you are watching, get in contact.

I really like this, very poignant and a bit eerie. The quotes at the end are great, really finish it off.
