  • I def like the VI better then the unlaq LC tenor, the rose? colored one sounds....cleaner? Is the best way I can put it.. still on the VI side though.

  • Your right, Anibal, those new horns sound great, and better than your Mark VI, so pick yourself one of 'em and ditch that old piece of junk. I can help you with the disposal, just bring me the Mark VI and I'll take care of it and make sure it gets back to the furnace...

  • keyboards so that saxes, especially tenor saxophones, should get together between 5 and 7 of them to play all of the notes in say, J S Bach's concerto for harpsichord BBWV1052, especially the third movement and using the modern arrangement for two pianos instead of piano and orchestra so that armed with 7 tenor saxes one can have a "human pipe organ" which would cream a concert grand and orchestra if the sax players are what they should be to do show tenor saxophones at their best on best set up

  • it counts, on top of a solid sterling silver body, that is hydraulically drawn instead of hand beaten, the latter which not only costs up to US$10,000 more but kills the resonance, is better than solid 14 karat gold. The latter is only for those who do not realize that one can plate very well on the inside of a saxophone. So I hope to make a recording ASAP to post on YouTube so that such an advanced sax can be heard rather than just talked about. I also think that the best music was written for

  • and so I have had a friend technician polish the inside bore of my prototype and then an expert electroplater gold plate the surface of the inside bore, which I believe, proviced a better sound than a solid 14 karat gold tenor would. Why? because sterling silver conducts better than gold, especially 58% pure gold(14 karat) where of all the elements in the Periodic Table, only gold and platinum have the amazing inluence on the vibrations in the air column,so that 24 karat or 22.5 karat gold where

  • as far as I am concerned the thicker the better for mouthpieces, necks, body, bow and bell,Why? because like turbo and supercharging gets more fuel into the engine, so also a thicker body provides more potential and influence for the more important linear concussion vibrations which travel longitudinally behaving like a particle. The greater vibrations by far, however, once the more important are catered for, are the more complex reflecting vibrations in the three dimensional vibrating air column

  • Selmer Paris Super Action 80 series III A64 design, as far as I know, which seems to incorporate the unequalled balanced key action of the 30s and 40s, the lyrical centred, super resonant projection of the MkVI, and the unequalled altissimo register of the Super 80, and also a bigger WOW factor than the Silversonic c/- of yours truly working nicely in with Rich Huang who I am very grateful to, in providing a gauge in solid sterling silver one seventh thicker than the standard Seler Paris one's

  • the late 1980s had a way superior altissimo register however, in which I played a triple high C, four octaves above concert Bb just below middle C, which I have not equalled since, but I rate both the Silveronic and the MkVi considerably superior in the normal register. My dream sax, however, made by Rare Hardware Co Ltd, absolutely creams my Silversonic however, and anything else I have ever known, and it seems to promise to equal the Super 80 in the altissimo register as well. It is in the

  • I have owned one of the best set oup King Super 20 Silversonics, in so far as while the neck and bell are solid sterling silver, the body and bow are also heavily silverplated, I say heavily because there is still no sign of wear and tear on the plating after 32 heavy playing. I have twice had the opportunity of swapping it for one of the best MkVIs I have played, but could not bring myself because of missing the larger than life sound of my Silversonic. A brand new Selmer Paris Super 80, in

  • Can you tell me if the red sax was solid pure copper? because if it was, you will probably appreciate Rare Hardware Co Ltd who have one of the best designs ever, probably unbeatable key action, and most of all, you can now get them in 0.8mm gauge which, will only be available in Paul Mauriat if Rich Huang, owner/operator has made them for Paul Mauriat, as a considerable investment in time, skill and money is required to be able to draw tone holes properly in a guage one seventh thicker, but WOW!

  • As far as I can see there are three dark horses in the running for the best saxophones to get, all things considered, and they are: LC horns, Paul Mauriat horns and Rare Hardware Co Ltd horns.

Rare Hardware Co Ltd are the ones I know most about, some experience with Paul Mauriat horns and none with LC horns,so I greatly appreciate this post. For my taste, the first was good, but did not have the special rasp (resonance of the MkVl, but although different the red sax equalled at least the MkVI

  • Two questions:

Is it my imagination, or did the bare brass LC sound a bit more open to you?

What other horns did you try in your quest?

  • Do you have any vids of trying out the LC sopranos? Maybe the straight vs the curved? The tenor sounds very free with a nice edge!

  • @arcjazzsax I'm sorry I do not. I have not tried the sopranos.

  • Red sax sounds great!

  • Definitely the six!

  • I am playing LC Saxophones myself and I can say: they are great.

  • What kind of mouthpiece are you using?

  • @milesberrysax1212 an AMMA

  • brecker played this tune right?

  • The horn sounds great. I will check them out on the website. Thank you.

  • sounds great brother...

  • @ilthemsc No I'm not

  • Did you get the T-601, T-602, T-603, or T-604 on vitage red?

  • @iamthesaxmaster

They are both T 601's. Thanks!
