Omg this car is shit!Okay its fast and so but you want to fix something? No not with Jaguar repair parts are to pricefull and a repair takes too much time thanks this genious construktion xD This cars are crap!!
Is that guys hair on purpose? It should be disallowed inside a jag. Anyway, it was broken, no one was buying it. That why they came up with the slutty design.
The fact that I can currently purchase a 2006 Super V8 with under 50K miles for around $25K is an insult to this car and those who designed and built it, but I'll take one. Hopefully within the next 4 to 6 months one will be sitting in my garage. One of the greatest cars ever built.
@TopGearrules The British say Jaguar one way, and Americans pronounce it another way. Both pronunciations are due to accent and syllable differences. One way might be the "official" way to say it but if a whole nation pronounces it another way, you might as well accept it instead of being so stubborn.
I like the old look very timeless and looks good at all times. The new ones don't look like a jaguar at all and not even close to making it look like a cat.
my mom has a 2006 Jaguar XJ Super V8. I think it was the last model year with the leaper on the hood. Those cars are head turners. Drive one and you'll see what I mean. I dont care for the total redesign on the 2010 XJ. Looks like Jaguar wanted to sacrifice elegance for the sporty look. However I do love the interior of the 2010 XJ.
Not enough storage? Jaguars arent about being practical they are about being jaw droppingly gorgeous. Their styling and comfort is what makes them great, not how many cupholders or storage compartments it does or doesnt have. They are fantastic!
I have driven almost everything. I own a XJR and in 100K+ miles I have replaced the waterpump and lots of tires. Not only has it been relatively maintenance-free, it floggs about everything out there. BMW's & MB's aren't even close. The XJR has a lot of race inspiration in it's engineering. People that form "opinions" from things like how many drink holders probably don't have what it takes to even enjoy a super sport/luxury car. Go drive a Toyota (I mean Lexus) and be happy . Love my XJR!

This car may be very good looking and luxurious and all that jazz but I would never consider thinking about buying one. For one, its a jag. Maintenence and parts availability in general is a headache. Its also too expensive. Its competitors are much, much better than this car at anything at that price. I would much, much, much rather have a 2001 BMW 740IL. But I would then drop an E92 m3 V8 in it. That would be sweet.

I agree with you about the Jaguar. I don't agree with the guy in the video that the German cars have better equipment. German cars are well engineered but the Jaguar has style and individuality whereas the Germans do not.
Very true, both the Arnage and the XJ holds the original designs, but will be changed. It's a real bummer. It's just like removing the Phantom Grill and the Spirit of Ecatasy from a Rolls Royce Phantom.

I would always choose a XJ8 over a BMW or Benz even the Mighty A8 which i respect very much I just coudnt break my love of the XJ
I own a 1986 XJ Jaguar series 3 sovereign which this design is based on, I believe it was the last Jaguar sir william lyons had a hand in designing, and even though she is 21 years old you can see and feel the build quaility! and for $15.000au it was a bargain, obviously high tech this Xj super v8 would be great but couldn't afford it so we stick with "bessie" and she is part of the family and yes we love her![you can see her in " jaguars can really corner" on you tube.
will what?? smoke anything on the road?? hahahahahhahahahaha :)):)) lol ..this jag wount even be able to keep up with the 08 M3..not even talking about m5
yeah,sadly..really! because the Jag is the giant British car must be owned by British !,but now must go to INDIAN Conglo millionare!.I don`t know how so sadly the big cat funs,anyway..like Roll R +mini to beemer, beatley to VW group,how..the great britanian must think twice..about the pride!..well goodluck INDIAN!
hey! y stress so much on "INDIAN"!? i do understand that it means a lot to British people. But, I'm sure Tata will do a good job and take care of it. Besides, why do so many people think that it's bad for an Indian company to own a foreign automaker? How does being owned by an Indian company spoil the brand? India is among the fastest growing economies in the world and is a hub for reasonable skilled labor. People here are extremely talented. I am sure Jag is in good hands.
I am not stress so much on IDIAN runner,I just can`t think why becauseThe CAT is perhaps the last samurai ,if i pls to say in jap version,so much to british itself!,actually i just though to British ,and India is a great country!so many gene there!by respect!,I just though about BRITISH!...and TATA will do a great job perhaps,HOPE SO...
Tata will do a great job of upholding the brand equity in Jaguar. Jag is not the last british samurai. There is still TVR, Aston, Bentley, Rolls, Lotus, etc. It is rare that the manufacturing process for an automobile gets revamped when the owners change. As with most other corporate buyouts, a change in ownership will affect Jaguar's marketing strategy more that its manufacturing process.
Actually Bentley, and Rolls-Royce are both owned by VW. So that leaves only TVR, Aston Martin, and Lotus the last THREE remaining "British" automakers. And by the way, correct me if I'm wrong. But FORD owns Jaguar already, hence the Ford Taurus being similar to the Jag X-type? Yeah....
you are right, even MINI was in BWM ,so ONLY:TVR<ASTON<LOTUS:remaining British automakers., JAGUAR has a big name to safe and to treat like JAG, so every customers who love this cats.whoever ..I worry that the carpet of new XF will be the famous india carpets...!..thanks you are right!
Yeah, sadly, even Mini Cooper is considered german now... oh well, they're still wonderful cars to drive, I had fun driving my friend's Mini Cooper S.
Not really, many are still made at British plants on British soil... you should do more research before you decide to contradict someone BMW owns the company, yes... but they do not manufacture Minis off the same plant as beemers.
allright and so my english isn't that good! what i meant to say was that bmw werk factory owns the company and by that logic bmw makes the cars, although indirectly!
oh ok, I thought you were saying BMW makes the minis at their plants. my mistake, sorry about that.... but yeah Mini is german now, BMW owns them... oh well, they're still pretty nice cars, my friend has a cooper s.
Rolls-Royce (Cars) is owned by BMW. Rolls-Royce PLC (Aero engines) is shareholder owned. I workd at the latter. TVR is no more, as far as I can work out; was Russian owned. AML is UK/Suadi(?) consortium owned. Lotus is Malaysian owned (Proton). I work at Lotus Cars now. Did work at Jag between RR & Lotus!!
As far as you can work out? you need to wiki TVR...
And we're talking about a car company's base of operations, not who owns them. MINI is German owned, but it's still made in UK, so it's not German Made, just German owned.
"And we're talking about a car company's base of operations". Who's "we"? The posts above talk about country of ownership AND manufacture.
Nissan, Honda & Toyota all manufacture cars in the UK but no one ever sees those cars as British.
I did Wiki TVR and look at their website but as far as I'm concerned, they're dead. Blackpool long since gone & talk of manufacture in Italy hasn't yet materialised.
i meant like all the people I was talking about... and ME at least I mean base of operations. I mean Mazda manufactures cars in America, but that doesn't make them American right? They're considered Japanese cause that's where their base of operations has always been. That's just what I was referring to. As for TVR being dead, I've no clue, the last car I remember them making was the Sagaris a few years ago.
as far as being dead, I'm not sure. The website is still up and running, the dealer locater shows info for dealers in Russia, Ireland, Scotland, and England. I've always considered TVR more of a, how you say... private car manufacturer, like they make cars only for people who order them, instead of mass producing them, you know? I hope their not dead, I've always wanted a Tuscan and hope to get one as I get a little older and have the money :D
This is the last one that says jaguar I have one with the leaper with chrome vents and double chrome grill and chrome around the windows always turning heads

I agree with this guy on everylevel--He is so right when he says dont change it if it aint broke
Jaguar is the only british brand in its class
So it needs to be differnt and special
They tried square headlights in the 70s and it bombed badly
Jesus drives a Jag :D
32silvercoins 3 years ago
square headlights where in the late 80's early 90's when ford bought them.
afwjam 3 years ago
The XJ had sqaure headlights for one year in the 80s. They were a diaster and Jag went right back to quad round lamps.
32silvercoins 3 years ago
little longer then a year, the XJ40 went until 1994. The round headlights did not come back till the XJ300 in 1995.
afwjam 3 years ago
those square headlights are an baffling to me, i think they were suppose to be for 1991 only, but i've seen 1990-1994's with and without them.

Everyone says that this car is not the best, but this man really does describe the car.
Believe it or not, this car goes 0-60 in 5.1 fucking seconds, and that is faster than any of its big-ass competitors.
Groovyman12 3 years ago 2
There are plenty of people who think Jaguars are the best.
zid00001 3 years ago 3
I think Jag XJ is the best of the range and of this type of car, i would buy one

Jag is almost about to be owned by an Indian company! ;-)
nagarjun424 4 years ago
yeah,sadly..really! because the Jag is the giant British car must be owned by British !,but now must go to INDIAN Conglo millionare!.I don`t know how so sadly the big cat funs,anyway..like Roll R +mini to beemer, beatley to VW group,how..the great britanian must think twice..about the pride!..well goodluck INDIAN!
08quattro 4 years ago
hey! y stress so much on "INDIAN"!? i do understand that it means a lot to British people. I am sure Jag is in good hands.
nagarjun424 4 years ago
I am not stress so much on IDIAN runner,I just can`t think why becauseThe CAT is perhaps the last samurai ,if i pls to say in jap version,so much to british itself!,actually i just though to British ,and India is a great country!so many gene there!by respect!,I just though about BRITISH!...and TATA will do a great job perhaps,HOPE SO...
08quattro 4 years ago
Because the brand will lose its prestige...
salsero4U2 4 years ago
Tata will do a great job of upholding the brand equity in Jaguar. Jag is not the last british samurai. There is still TVR, Aston, Bentley, Rolls, Lotus, etc. It is rare that the manufacturing process for an automobile gets revamped when the owners change. As with most other corporate buyouts, a change in ownership will affect Jaguar's marketing strategy more that its manufacturing process.
Nicool333 4 years ago
Actually Bentley, and Rolls-Royce are both owned by VW. So that leaves only TVR, Aston Martin, and Lotus the last THREE remaining "British" automakers. And by the way, correct me if I'm wrong. But FORD owns Jaguar already, hence the Ford Taurus being similar to the Jag X-type? Yeah....
BulletproofMonk 4 years ago
you are right, even MINI was in BWM ,so ONLY:TVR<ASTON<LOTUS:remaining British automakers., JAGUAR has a big name to safe and to treat like JAG, so every customers who love this cats.whoever ..I worry that the carpet of new XF will be the famous india carpets...!..thanks you are right!

Yeah, sadly, even Mini Cooper is considered german now... oh well, they're still wonderful cars to drive, I had fun driving my friend's Mini Cooper S.
BulletproofMonk 4 years ago
considered german? they're made by the bmw factory! they ARE german!
lowfiwhiteguy 3 years ago
The factory is at Cowley in Oxford and that, despite the best efforts of the Luftwaffe, is still part of England :-)
ColinStuartMill 3 years ago
Not really, many are still made at British plants on British soil... you should do more research before you decide to contradict someone BMW owns the company, yes... but they do not manufacture Minis off the same plant as beemers.
BulletproofMonk 3 years ago
allright and so my english isn't that good! what i meant to say was that bmw werk factory owns the company and by that logic bmw makes the cars, although indirectly!
lowfiwhiteguy 3 years ago
oh ok, I thought you were saying BMW makes the minis at their plants. my mistake, sorry about that.... but yeah Mini is german now, BMW owns them... oh well, they're still pretty nice cars, my friend has a cooper s.
BulletproofMonk 3 years ago
interesting thread ...
ie
who owns what ...
you have the ultimate owner
ie brand / distribution
then the assembly plant - sometimes this is subcontracted out to a 3rd party!
then we have the producers of the main & the sub components.
most cars are now truly european in the 'chain of added value'
does it always matter who owns the brand ?
if 'your country' has the assembly & a good chunk of the parts thats surely where the 'benefits' comes from.
chrisd1963 3 years ago
Actually TVR is now russian and I think Lotus is owned by an indonesian car company
bobjetbob 3 years ago
Lotus is owned by Proton. A Malaysian company.
lewis72 3 years ago
Rolls-Royce (Cars) is owned by BMW. Rolls-Royce PLC (Aero engines) is shareholder owned. I workd at the latter. TVR is no more, as far as I can work out; was Russian owned. AML is UK/Suadi(?) consortium owned. Lotus is Malaysian owned (Proton). I work at Lotus Cars now. Did work at Jag between RR & Lotus!!
lewis72 3 years ago
As far as you can work out? you need to wiki TVR...
And we're talking about a car company's base of operations, not who owns them. MINI is German owned, but it's still made in UK, so it's not German Made, just German owned.
BulletproofMonk 3 years ago
I'm well aware of that!
Blackpool long since gone & talk of manufacture in Italy hasn't yet materialised.
lewis72 3 years ago
i meant like all the people I was talking about... and ME at least I mean base of operations. I mean Mazda manufactures cars in America, but that doesn't make them American right? They're considered Japanese cause that's where their base of operations has always been. That's just what I was referring to. As for TVR being dead, I've no clue, the last car I remember them making was the Sagaris a few years ago.
BulletproofMonk 3 years ago
as far as being dead, I'm not sure.
