@MyLalinea , she had a romance with Vic when she was working in Germany on "The Devil Makes Three" (1953), they broke things off and for a while he dated her twin sister, Marisa Pavan. Pier's mother was controlling and did not approve of James Dean, and Pier, being the dutiful daughter, married Vic more to please her mother than herself. I'm sure she cared for Vic but I don't know if she was in love with him. Her marriage to him proved disasterous both personally and professionally. Very sad.

That was how life was like in the 1950s. It was not her mistake. Pier Angeli was a conservative classy woman and wanted to keep her classy image in Hollywood by being married as a pregnant woman. I do believe that she was pregnant with James Dean's son before she married Vic Damone and it would have been a sleazy thing in the 1950s to be pregnant and not married. James Dean's career just started and his agent pushed him to not get married because he was to look like an available guy to fans.

Damone and Angeli were married in Nov 1954 and she gave birth in August 1955. She and Dean had not been together for months before that. Also, I seriously doubt that Damone would have gone through a vicious custody battle to get Perry if he weren't his own.

Do you realize that Pier Angeli has a twin sister named Marisa Pavan? Marisa is a very accomplished actress on her own, got an Oscar Best Supporting Actress nomination for "The Rose Tattoo". Marisa looks just like Pier.
