  • "Another point that entered me.. artists/magicians/thieves all share something in common. They never display where they got their shit; it's what makes them. " im not sure this is true

  • May 24- his birthday

  • No pueder ver lo que yo cargo y mi pueblo ignora señor jones..."Because something is happening But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones ?"

  • What's up Mister Jones?

  • This is my favorite from him and I dont understand why others see it the same. Their is so much feel in it, its like a big F--- YOU! type of song and its cool of him to put poetry to that.

  • Oh my god...he can't sing live. Great song and all..one of the best but...I can't handle it..

  • Mr. Jones was a Melody Maker critic called Max Jones. Who but a journalist would walk into a room with a pencil in his hand?

  • @sayspain I'm going to make a case that Mr. Jones is everybody but him. He has the secret.. you can't have it. This particular song is simply awesome for diving into Dylan's projections (Freudian type of deal). "give us some milk.. else go home". He wanted milk(material) from everyone else. No milk.. no music. This stuff doesn't occur in a vacuum.

  • How does he do it? How does Dylan take a simple musical form and turn it into magic? This performance is one of many that transcend a purely literal explanation to create an aura of understanding beyond words. More like feeling the words to create meaning.

  • @letsif Dylan is/was a feeler, first and foremost. The logic that others attempt to derive from the form itself, will be left without reason. Narratives from the 60's seem naive now, full of ignorance toward the message that was always about him and his experience in the moment. Problem is, few are so self-referential/internal as Dylan to comprehend that he was/is making his own music experience. That you were entertained was a convenient coincidence that fed the whole thing..

  • @jnc07resI think it is beyond anyone at the moment, to penetrate the mystery of creativity. We can attribute it to brain chemistry and wiring, or passion that leads to hard work. But that still doesn't explain anything, really. Even Mr. D. admits that he doesn't know either. I find that good enough

  • @letsif yeah, I don't *really* want to rip the curtain from the wizard, it's just that the nuts and bolts are old hat to me. The modus of creativity is still within the artist, preforming suspensions of disbelief and whatnot. People go through phases in life.. Dylan 'pre-accident' was a phase that he channeled completely.. the stars lined up, and the world was set on its proverbial ear. The opposite of this conversation is the concept of 'writer's block'..and he was due for a bout eventually.

  • @letsif Another point that entered me.. artists/magicians/thieves all share something in common. They never display where they got their shit; it's what makes them. Dylan begged, borrowed and stole, and repackaged it as his own. That you were fooled is the height of trickster/art motifs.. Soul singers, as an example, don't really do this thing.. but I bet a person might wonder where all that soul comes from... that feeling. Was it created, or channeled? Good art is rare.

  • Something is happening here, but you don't know what it is. Man there's all the philosophy of the world here inside that words. One of the greatest abilities of that man is to concentrate a lot of connecton, meanings, reverberations inside few lines. He doesn't write songs, he makes portraits, it's chromatic-music, his words are rainbows.

  • you left me in love

  • Anyone who asks who Mr. Jones is is afraid they are Mr. Jones

  • @IRoch86 Anyone who asks who Mr. Jones is IS Mr. Jones.

Papel verde.

  • so i know this song was written long before '78 but is it just me or does this song seem almost prophetic of jones town?

  • It doesn't matter what the songs are about. What matters is HOW they are ... I love the way he sings it

  • ha! Did you turn Dylan's manager into Mr. Jones? That's funny.

  • I used to write lyrics like this when I was 9.

  • Damn I love this song.

The audio interview is from Dylan Speaks, a 1965 press conference in San Francisco.

Who is on drums? Looks familiar.

  • @HumanExtra drummer is Mickey Jones you've probably seem him in movies

  • @buffalobilly Thanks!

  • this is from eat the document

  • Helge Schneider saß damals an der Orgel!

  • I think people are missing an amazing detail about Dylan in this performance; the fact that he's doing this specific song and how lengthy the lyrics really are if you're just reading them on paper and he memorizes every single word. It does not matter if he wrote it, musicians in general from time to time normally forget their own lyrics while performing their own songs and sometimes they compensate with stage monitors that contain the words on the screen. Here, it's just Dylan and his piano.

  • You can say that again!

  • Dylan at his best!

  • Do u have any more footage of this concert or any other live bob dylan footage from his electric era? thanks.

  • awesome dylan every song of his is just amazing

  • may that organ haunt the deepest pits of our darkest dreams. holy shit that is crazy.

    respects to garth!

  • @JoeyhasMojo Yeah, maaaannnnn. Let's show these fat cats that we won't take it anymore.

  • OCCUPY THE WORLD: 'The Conservatives don't get it yet, do they?'

  • @JoeyhasMojo Don't drag your BS politics into Dylan's songs!

  • @Dave897456 Are you trying to crack a joke here? Dylan's songs are all about protest politics.

  • @gustavopena02116 Not acording to Dylan.

  • @gustavopena02116 No I am not joking. Dylan turned his back on protest songs or as Bob calls them "finger pointing songs" back in 1964. You should listen to BD's lyrics on My Back Pages. After he split with Suze, he lost interest in writing protest songs.

  • There are some marvelous interpretations of this song on other videos. The real point of this song is a bit more obvious here.

  • Outstanding song and performance!

  • Dylan when he plays the piano, plays mostly on the black keys.

  • This man is so unbelievably inspiring..Yea I just watched the video and im in complete and utter awe... Previous comment from me was when I just started to watch and was excited. :D

  • God yes yes yes!! Long live Bob Dylan!

  • amazing ...

  • bob dylan my idol

  • Bob at his very best.

  • Serves you Mr. Jones. Haha

  • Dylan its my terapist, sometimes my mind it's crashing with images of people who have left me and the pain and the anguish that i feel, i cant describe, takes over and makes my brain bleed and my eyes scream, and evertything resumes to my loner condition, and well this music helps me, like a medicine, i got high and then the smoke goes away and takes all with it

  • Thanks for the video man!

  • hope this video lasts

  • Glad to see this clip back on here. Thanks for the post!

BOATM once again is so popular for Dylan only he's center stage, no instruments, but very very dramatic. He's reinvented the drama of this particular moment & he's absolutely awesome! If you get a chance to see him take it.....he won't disappoint!
