Do any of the guitarists out there know what chord he is using when he sings "forgot them?" It comes around several times. It is the only chord I can't figure out. I would greatly appreciate any insights.
@shaconage if your not using a capo then it is a c. depending upon where you capo the song then you will move it down however many steps. i generally play it on the 2nd fret so it would be moved down to the 10th.
@1MrJoness What would be moved down to the tenth? I appreciate your response. I listened to the song again and the chord I can't figure out is when he says sky as in "sun into the sky" -- and when he says -- "already" as in already as heavy as can beit looks like some kind of F chord but sounds different and hauntingly beautiful. Any ideas what chord, or how he is playing that? I really appreciate it.
@shaconage i dont play the same version that he does in this song, but in this particular recording he is playing an F chord when he says "sky." the song is capoed on the 5th and the F is kind of like a power chord shape. this chord is used in almost all his songs. 1st fret, 6th string and 3rd fret 5th string are the notes (F chord).

@AmeliaGomezPino123 Not sure what "music history" has to do with anything. Your comment made no sense whatsoever. The Flaming Lips are an excellent innovative band. This is just a turd perched on a stool strumming a few chords and trying to act dramatic. You have no class, and horrible taste.
@MrGrevy Sam Beam is a very talented (and, yes, dramatic) singer/songwriter. The Flaming Lips made a wonderful song and Sam gave it his own feel for his audience (who is there because they like his style).
Also, there is no strumming in this version, it's all plucked.
@mprep789 Yes. It is very plucked up. However, that bizarre turd Ameliagomezpino (nice freaking name) claims this slacker's version is "WAY better than the original". That's simply an absurd statement that no one with an above room temperature iq would even consider agreeing with. I guess to put it in terms she might understand: It's WAY worse!
you guys realize this is about suicide? Wayne Coyne said so at NX35, a week after one of his best friends committed suicide. He said, if you, or anyone you love feels so down, just find help, hold on, do something to survive the pain.
I got to meet him and get an autograph columbus, oh. It was raining hard and about 20 of us were huddled under this overhead. He saw us signed autographs for us. Seriously one of the nicest guys I have met.

No major religion coerces its members to pay for religious services. Scientology requires its members to pay "fixed donations" for any service. Staff members aggressively try to convince other Scientologists to purchase services in a practice known as "hard regging". Furthermore, staff and Sea Org members are often recruited with the promise of free services, but required to do nearly unpaid work for the organization in exchange, and will be billed for a "freeloader debt" if they leave.
The issue is that no other religion charges you money before telling you what the religion is all about. In order for consumers to make a reasoned choice they must have the facts on what they are buying.
Tithes are voluntary. Donations are REQUIRED to advance to "salvation" in Scientology. People are never told give 12K to other churches/mosques or Jesus/Muhammad won't save you.
Okay I see your point, but that still doesn't change the fact that the bible says that its expected to give 10% of one's total income to the church as a tithe because it belongs to God in Christianity, or first crop belongs to God in Judaism.
All religions are sociologically materialistic through their teachings of giving up ones possessions. One should be delighted to give their money to the church, for to not be is a sin.
And why are you posting this shit on an Iron and Wine video anyways?
The 10% is voluntary, as I said, or at least according to the many Christians I know. If the Bible does indeed say that and it is intended to be interpreted like that, then the many Christians I know are doing it wrong.
If you go to any other religion and ask what they're all about they'll tell you. Free of charge. However, in Scientology you don't really learn what the religion is about until you've already invested some 300,000 US dollars into it.
Yeah well you seem to be all and fine about mormonism as well. Scientology is just another religion that are more upfront with their materialism, but if you truly abide by the teachings of the Abrahamic faiths, you would know that 10% of ones income over the course of their adult life>300,000.
And the bible says not to have sex before marriage or with members of the same sex, but I see plenty of christians doing that too, and that doesn't make it any less wrong.
It was never about the beliefs. It's about the actions of the corrupt management of the Church of Scientology. This organization breaks up families, controls its members, and harasses its critics. The issue is no other religion charges you money before telling you what it's all about. The doctrine of Xenu, dead alien souls, and exploding volcanos? That's not told to you until you've paid $300,000. One doesn't have to be a part of any religion to oppose these abuses.

@MrGrevy This is WAY better than the Original...Learn you Music History Man. You need to learn that some things are Legend and others are just there.
