  • These games never made sense after Cockatrice came out.

  • Blue-Black is the master race of magic players.

    WOOT.

  • I think Magic is now more popular than Yu-Gi-Oh. I know a lot of people who play it. I mean tons.

  • I would like to see this as a series ( campaign)

  • This reminds me of BattleForge...i dont think anyone actually plays the game anymore i played it for free before it came out and haven't heared of it since, but i remember it was pretty fun

  • I wonder what manner of game could emerge from an amalgamation of Magic: The Gathering and Arkham Horror? A game where a bunch of Planeswalkers battle the Cthulhu Mythos, with magic and madness abound as powerful mages clash with the Ancient One.

Even if it kinda weakened the dark hopeless nature of the Cthulhu Mythos, Magic: Arkham Gathering would be AMAZING.

  • Magic = Cardboard Crack...

  • Wanna this for mac :-/

  • @crippenfalyfe Haha, same here.

  • Honestly I never really liked Magic but I collected the cards when I was younger(never played) but this video got me a bit interested in the game.

  • I would love to get back into Magic The Gathering again because I never feel out of love with it. I was mainly a collector of the cards first for just the art and the creatures themselves. After a while I actually started playing the game and enjoying it. Glad to see Magic the Gathering is still strong in its community.

  • Needs moar main phase 2 stuff xD

  • Magic can be "kinda" pricey? Magic is absurdly pricey if you want to compete, it's one of the reasons I left the game, got tired of having to throw so much money into it just to play at tournament level. Aside from that I also got tired of the one-three turn wonder decks where they had the stupid instant win / infinite combo's that took all the fun out of playing *shrug*

Living card games for me now, much more balanced and much less pricey. Magic was fun but it ran it's course for me.

  • @DarkBunnyLord u could have played draft tournament its around 15 bucks and you can get alot of good cards :)

  • @DarkBunnyLord You could just, you know, play limited formats. A draft deck never costs hundreds of dollars, and the sets are designed with limited formats in mind.

  • The Kinsbaile Cavalier (23:20) looks like Simon on a goat :)

  • Magic is the best card game ever pokemon and all those other card games don't get even close

  • @Dashingswordsman1 Nice to see that I'm not alone

  • There are a lot of noobs here, like 99%, very insulting to a player that has played 8 years like me.

  • @StreethingX Your arrogance pisses me off. Everyone was a noob at one point.

  • @StreethingX I don't think you started playing at age of 2...

  • so,its,like,duel,masters?

  • Did Duels of the Planeswalkers change how flashback works? In the physical card game a card with flashback is exiled (removed from the game entirely) if cast from the graveyard so that you have two uses of the card total without any other effects. TotalBiscuit describes the ability allows as many casts as you want and the card goes back to the graveyard in the footage... which is super OP.

  • @hayashidarkstar He made a mistake. There's an annotation in the video correcting the mistake.

  • @Pista1323 I think my annotations must have been off then, because I definitely didn't have a large red box show up when I watched it. Also, I was mistaken. I was looking for the exiled pile and didn't see one, not realizing that it wasn't the top card of the graveyard.

  • I knew you were going to do the Flash Gordon joke near the end!

  • Flash part made me lol :P

  • The cards look super awesome!

  • As a long-time Magic player, DotP is such a pile of trash.

  • this game is far better on ps3 or xbox. Steam suffers from a lack of players. Not so much that you can't find a game but not enough to offer an entertaining casual alternative to uno

  • The only thing that annoys me about this game is that sometimes my opponent gets an extremely OP starting hand and i basically lose the game before I've even made a turn

  • i couldnt see how he knew how much mana each person had...

  • @Kolle33908 its just the number of lands that the player has that aren't tapped.

  • "tapped that land" lolol

  • Land starved? I know it as mana screwed.

  • @romegaurd Yeah it's mana screwed. It's been mana screwed for over 10 years. These noobs and their new lingo eh?

  • @BeerTimeGaming Maybe Mana screwed in family safe situations, but I think it was originally mana fucked.

  • Is this free?

  • thumbs up if this made you think of a card game version of lord of the rings

  • watch 2:42 through 3:03

  • this game is copy righted yu gi oh

  • @balls8761 Magic the Gathering came out before Yu-Gi-Oh.

  • @balls8761 Magic the Gathering came out in 1993, Yu-Gi-Oh came out in 1999. :)

  • @balls8761 nope.. Magic the gartherin gwas the first card game.. its the first one.. so no every other card game has taken things from this one... Duelmaster for example is likea magic for kids.. you literally do the same things

  • Hmm, tap dat land.

  • Tyrant is a good free broswer card game.

  • @TotalHalibut I really apreciate that if you once in a year make a mistake you correct yourself in postproduction.

  • Magic in my view is a game that allows you to break it's own rules.

  • @kiroky95 You've obviously never played in tournaments. =/

  • Bought the game cuz looked fun. It is exciting and has a good replay value with its multiplayer and diffrent gamemodes which I am still exploring. It is a great by for people who are completly new to the game. It has tutorials that can get the most dimwitted monkey infront of a computer flinging cards like a pro in about 10 minutes. Lots of DLC as well with additional decks(TB was playing that death deck which is one of the 3 expansion decks). Cheap buy for 10$s with alot of bang for its buck.

  • Brings back memories from 90-ties... Would you be willing doing more GAME PLAYING?

  • magic is da best TCG

  • @TotalHalibut Is there any way to get a hold of the outro music?

  • Games like Magic make me wish i had friends IRL

  • @Dashingswordsman1 Head to your local comic shop on a day they're hosting Friday Night Magic and make some friends! :D

  • @Dashingswordsman1 indeed.

  • Blue is now all about the deck milling.... /sigh

  • Aaand the video is private, how interesting.

  • BTW flashback can only be cast once then it's exiled

  • I hope you play more.

  • You can just scroll your mousewheel to zoom in

  • ahh Magic, i miss you. i just wish i can find someone to play the physical card game with. Thank TB for making me remember the good times i had with Magic! :)

  • I freakin love MtG.

  • Is this game free?

  • @VoletheVole no, look at the steam link :)

  • I used to run with a green/red deck working with red to weaken my opponents mana with Green powering my troops. made quite a dent but my deck was off balance. (had a game where I got like 20 land in a row O_O )

  • you know a card game is gonna be crazy when he says a "basic" look and it is 40 min long lol alright back to the video :D

  • @bluehawk2121 that or tb is crazy :D

  • i wanna buy this on steam but the dlc seems to cost another 2,99€ in extra.... can someone explain me what i have to pay additionally to have all decks be able to unluck (dont wanna have them unlucked already, i want to unluck them on my own) a quick answer would be nice, thx! x)

  • @666Kanackenstolz666 Depends what DLC. There is only one expansion pack where you unlock them on your own, and then there's the two deck packs that have 3 deck (if I'm right) each that you can't unlock in the expansion pack.

  • @666Kanackenstolz666 There's the Expansion which has 3 decks and the Deck Packs which have 2 decks each. Buy those if you want all the decks. Don't buy anything that is either foil conversion or "full deck". Foil conversion gives you shiny version of that deck and full deck unlocks the 20 locked cards for that deck. Both are a waste of money.

  • I had some cards in my drawer which I bought when I was a kid, i never actually knew how to play the game though XD. So now I know, thanks TB.

  • I haven't played this guy play shadow era but must say I do prefer the look of this, specially like how you can block damage with creatures unlike shadow era where they don't even need to hit your creatures you can just go right past them, makes matches a bit dull

  • I want to buy this game but I wonder, do I need to buy those ''Deck Packs'' to get those extra decks or are those included in the expansion or can I get them without paying money?

  • @kubbbbba

They are not included. Each deck pack provides 2 unique decks, some of which are quite powerful. (Ghoulkeeper, March to War, and Beknighted come to mind.)

  • @Vaskre Ok thanks. I wonder if those deck packs and the expansion are worth the money. I enjoyed the demo quite a lot but the thing about buying every new things seems bad to me.

  • I love magic, but your choice of deck to demonstrate is terrible. you should use a plain black deck, or black and blue. best combo.

  • i wonder how pissed that girl was getting waiting for tb to make a move.

  • 32:27

Actually no, not all of the damage is assigned to the creature. Only "lethal" damage. Which is why trample works even if you have protection from that colour.

  • @poketr97 your logic doesnt make sense here, cuz even tho your right about trample going through protection, he said but trample lets you asign the remaining dmg, trample is the thing that makes the rest go through, its the exception to the rule

  • i swear im like one of the 8 dudes on the planet that actually plays duel masters.

  • cough cough flash reference cough cough

  • He likes steampunk Warhammer 40k and M:TG... I am going to have to track you down and kidnap you TB... or just continue watching your videos I guess.

  • the commercial before this video was WTF worthy, the first thing it said was "the boobs are back" dafuq?

  • I learned how to play a card game by watching a guy who plays video games play a video game version of said card game.

And I'm very much OK with that.

  • I already had this game beforehand, but hadn't bothered installing it, partly due to not knowing the rules of MtG, but this video got me playing it. I was spoilt a bit by having played a Yu Gi Oh game back on the GBA which offered full deck customisation, but this was still fun and is going a good job of satisfying my need for some card games in my life.

  • I hope TB play Urban Rivals

  • Watching this makes me feel so smart. Thank you TB.

  • Um... TH, I hope you know MTG was the first trading card game, came out 18/19 years ago, thats why all the TCG derive from the ideas of MTG

  • TB, do a WTF is DuelingNetwork!!

  • so white's are angels and black's evil, i would have never thought u were a racist pig tb!

  • okay game, but the multiplayer can bug out really bad... i've played w/ a pal of mine and its done everything from freezing to crashing or endless AI thinking.. Its happened as many as 4 times a day out of about 15 games. Wish the developers spent a little time polishing up the bugs between yearly releases.

  • It turns out keeping my Magic The Gathering cards was a good idea as a few of my cards are worth about £20 - £30 each now! I used to play it, just I never got into it properly.

However I have a cousin that plays MTG and I'd say he has about 1,000+ cards. He's in university and still plays it when he can and came first and second in a few local tournaments, but yes MTG is a bit expensive when it comes to properly building your decks.

  • Hey Darkbiscuit have you played MTG Battlgrounds?

  • Oh, how I'd love to see more of this recorded by you...

  • I play the actual tcg with physical cards and I think I might switch to that. It is very smooth and I don't really mind if I can't make my own decks.

  • Played MTG when I was in school too. I've wanted to play, but I lost all my cards a long time ago. I'll throw down ten bucks for nostalgia if nothing else. Thanks TB!

  • i played magic when i was in school and stopped playing it cuz all the new cards overpowered my old ones so it wasn't fun anymore

and no tcg game ever realy hit the nerve and now I'm hoping on scrolls to be kinda the thing i miss

  • i used to play magic and yu gi oh but my dad kept trhowing my cards out cus he thought i was delving in witchcraft T_T

  • @shadowninja569 WHA!? Dude, that's not cool! Sorry to hear that

  • @shadowninja569 religion...

  • @shadowninja569 Closed-minded dad. :( You should pick it up again if you want to, don't let him try to discourage games that encourage your imagination!

  • @shadowninja569 your dad is retarded

  • @shadowninja569 People still do that? How unfortunate....

  • @shadowninja569 You know you've heard too many arrow to the knee jokes when you expect any comment that starts with "I used to..." to end with "... until I took an arrow in the knee"

  • @shadowninja569 I had the same problem

  • @shadowninja569 are you serious or just joking?

  • @NetherDrakeye I bet he's telling the truth. I brought some decks to my friends house and his mom happened to see us playing on the floor. She then sat on the couch and grabbed her little iPhone and opened up her bible app. She sat on that couch for probably 30 minutes pinpointing EVERY SINGLE bible verse that says that says magic is bad. She then made my friend read every bible verse out loud for another 10 minutes until he finally got pissed and left the house. Fundies like that are so stupid.

  • @NetherDrakeye serious, i was started with yu gi oh and got into magic later on. ive had my cards thrown out many times but i stopped playing after my dad threw out my magic red/white/green saporling token deck. with the right setup i had 100+ 1/1 tokens on the field once. and my yu gi oh dragon deck was well worth over $500 at the time; more importantly they carried the memories of good times in high school it was also a memto b/c it had cards that i got from friends.

  • @shadowninja569 Throw away his pr0n

  • @shadowninja569

me:*reads the first part of your comment*ARROW TO THE KNEE? RAGGEE!!!!!

me:*half way through rage commenting finishes reading*...y u no finish?

  • @shadowninja569

That's kind of hilarious, you should start again now =P

  • @shadowninja569

My dad made me throw out my pokemon cards because he said they were "demonic"

  • @shadowninja569 My mom thought the same for Yu-Gi-Oh -__-

  • @shadowninja569 Because someone must ask: Really?

  • @shadowninja569 You mean it isn't witchcraft? And I've been wasting all this time...

  • @shadowninja569 thats why those people need to be hung by the nipples over a pit of crocks

  • Try to cast spells and creatures always after combat (in the second main phase), if they don't affect the combat. That way you have mana open for abilities and tricks (or at least bluff them).

If you teach this "attack first, cast stuff later"-concept from the beginning, new players are better from the start.

  • Flashback exiles the card after use, meaning you could cast it again and again, if you managed to have a card that let's you unexile something. Rare as hell btw.

  • Urza's block was the best.

  • Blue control/mill, nice and unique, just like EVERY other blue deck.

  • So very informative, i knew jack about this game and now i feel slightly confident (ish). Thanks TB :D

  • also magic the gathering is 4 ppl wit no computer... wtf were thety thinking when they made a fucking computergame out of this shit. Just play WoW.

  • lol rip-off of pokemon

  • @DarkMorphon Huh... magic was created before pokemon :)

  • God that purple glow highlighting cards is annoying, all i can see when he flips between cards is a big purple glowy outline that blocks the details. Do the devs think we are so dumb that we can't understand what card is highlighted, even if it is popped out and larger than the rest? >_>

  • TB you still havent done "WTF is Distant Worlds" or Distant Worlds: Legends.

There are plenty of great games out there few people know about, even if the current "hip releases" are dry in January..

  • Always had an interest in getting into Magic, but have also been sort of overwhelmed by learning the TCG. Good video for a start into it.

  • Wait, I thought that after using flashback the card was removed from game

  • I believe it was Stone Rain that had my favorite flavor text. "Creation is the work of a lifetime. Destruction is the work of an afternoon."

  • So I never had any actual interest in Magic but TB made it look entertaining so I bought this game and found it quite enjoyable. Thanks TB!

  • @Zippy761 You should buy the actual cards, it's even more fun with real people.

  • I really don't understand when someone hates on something they have never experienced: "durr magic suckz cuz it's a nerd game herp derp"

I for one find magic awesome

  • @Omvessa You don't get to 'find'Magic awesome. It is awesome innately. That's like saying you 'find' air breathable, or 'find' sex enjoyable, or 'find' BLT's delicious.

  • @ianjohn000 My apologies, I shall make sure next time that I'm not dazzled by Magic's greatness and take more notice of my sentence structure.... Now I'm off to go beat up some angels with a doom blade or two

  • If u dont have games to Wtf is try Q.U.B.E (its indie like u like it)

  • @Pb2plus Aye, Q.U.B.E. is awesome.

  • I liked what you did with the flash reference!

  • @thedeadserv I'm glad he added an annotation, even the small technical errors could have hurt his credibility. Unfortunately, the annotation wasn't there when I watched the video :D Still, like I said, it's good stuff and I love TBs videos.

  • @DevilsTreasure there are a few technical errors in his descriptions (summoning sickness only affects tap abilities and regen prevents combat damage + taps), but glad to see TB doing a video on MTG :)

  • The older Magic PC game was better. (Shandalar)

  • Don't get me wrong I have nothing against tcgs. But I would only play them if there was a Dragon Nest one that would be bad ass.

PS TB can you do a wtfree of Dragon Nest :D

  • @LippBigg look out we got a badass overhere

  • @LippBigg Life is such a waste of xp

  • @LippBigg that rant must have really satisfied you're vagina...

  • Classic card game.

  • @ZenCraftX collectible card game.

  • magic is wayyyyyy more popular than yu-gi-oh

  • Just bought my first deck!

  • I have a couple of problems with this game. I dislike that I can't choose which land I wanna tamp myself because sometimes they tap the wrong colors. Also when there's lot of auras and/or attacking cards in play it's hard to pick the right one to remove and/or block. Otherwise I find it lovely

  • Im 12 and my dad got me into the game because he used to be wayyyy into it. I enjoy it and have some evil decks >:D .... All my friends think im a nerd but idc about them because I love it. Thumbs up if you think if today's youth is stupid!

  • I started playing magic when i was 8 with my dad right now im 16 so now i wanna start playing again but have nobody to play with :(

  • Could you recommend any good magic game with deck customizing for a guy who used to be real into the game? I used to play this loose pc version that had lan battleing built in. Does anyone remember what this one was, i cant for the life of me?

  • this game has over 9000 DLCs. That's a no-go.

  • "The interface is brilliant." Seriously? That statement disqualifies you from any kind of reviewing, "first impressions" or whatever. Actually, this makes me think you were paid to make this video, especially since it's not a new game, which is out of place for the WTF is ... series,

  • @JanKowalski82 hai... ur dumb

  • @FiresDestiny "you're" or "you are"

  • @JanKowalski82 ITS A FIRST IMPRESSIONS TO HIM, that means he can say what ever he wants because that is his opinion.

  • @happyorks1 You think writing in caps makes what you say more important? Also, that's not how it works. When you claim to have authority in an area, you can't just say whatever you want, without consequences.

  • @happyorks1 wrong. This particular WTF video was not first impressions video like most of TB's WTF videos are. However, it still wasn't a review so TB is still more than allowed to express his own opinions without being judgemental.

WTF videos are not reviews they are first impressions / TB's thoughts of games and therefore they should not be treated as proper reviews. This is because WTF videos do not always show all aspects of the games which is a necessity in a review.

  • @HDMika and @JanKowalski82 i apologize for giving you both the impression i gave a fuck, i am sorry.

  • Is it REALLY just me, or does anyone else think card games are BORING beyond imagination? Just my opinion though.

  • @AlienMagi what if we play the (pause for dramatic effect) ON MOTORCYCLES!

  • @happyorks1

Pfft, nobody would do that. Not even Yu-Gi-Oh.

  • @StereoA this was a joke it has been done in a yugioh series

  • @daniel9940

    The joke

    Your head
