Wow that was a very deep and well thought out assessment of the relationship. I wish the writers were as smart at Ms. Durance ;-) The worst thing they could've done (and they did) was not have Lois on the episodes when Lana was there the entire time... it just really make it seem like she didn't matter at all... and in the reverse, after Infamous, it seemed like Lana had never returned - ugh, those darn writers! At least Erica GETS it... how important Lois and Clark's relationship should be.
@luckyjasonfan I use to be a Lana & Clark fan until Lois showed up.They had too much chemistry & camaraderie. Besides Lois & Clark are Destine to be with each other. I just need some kind of real closure with Lana so that even if she was cured & could be with Clark, he would still choose Lois. They made their love story to powerful and Lois & Clark story needs a legendary one shown not just known etc. Because right now its equal powerful one but not greater....We CAN'T have that!!!

Honestly, I couldn't even understand why he got back with her after she married Lex or after she was w/ Bizarro. They always lied to each other; there wasn't real trust. The fact that he is open & honest with Lois, imo, that IS the closure. I don't see him ever choosing anyone over Lois, like he said there was no one else (Isis). And she is the one (Harvest).
@luckyjasonfan It was a different kind of love...Everyone on that show lie to each about something..I love Lois even before Lana left but I felt offended on Lois behalf that Clark forgot all about her and was instantly in love with her again. It was obvious he had fallen for Lois never thought about or explained? The way the writers handle that was bad. And made worse by the fact that Lana & Clark would still be together if she wasnt a walking Kryptonite. We are Owed more cuz of that.

The writers did an AWFUL job in S8; but, Clana ALWAYS broke up over & over & over. Why would this time in S8 be any diff? Clana would have ended regardless. Maybe Clana fans don't want to believe that, but history proves otherwise!

@luckyjasonfan I see your point, the writers do show a pattern of making Clark look like a school boy in throes of his first infatuation. It actually make him look foolish. I think their so stuck on Kristin Kreuk than they are on CLANA.They give her the best female fight scenes, all the men love her & cant forget her and she's grown more than any other character on the show. I get she beautiful & great at emotional scenes but dang, give others a shot at better written stories! we Need Resolution
@luckyjasonfan I think the reason why the writers stuck with Lana for so long was because Lana represented Clark's life before Superman, and Lois represents Clark's life after Superman. Since Smallville was about Clark's pre-Superman years, the sooner Clark and Lana ended, the sooner Smallville would end. I think the BLUR storyline was what allowed the writers to transition Clark to Lois while retaining some elements of the Smallville storyline.
@daeuri ~ I completely get what you're saying, but as far as I know, Clark had a life After Lana and Before Superman. She wasn't all there was to his existence before he got with Lois & donned the suit. I just think they should have FOCUSED more on HIM and not his HS relationship! Like him in college AND training; things that had Nothing to do with Clana. I've heard that he had a college GF, so there was no reason to have him singularly obsessed with 1 girl for a better part of 7 yrs, imho
@luckyjasonfan When I first heard of Smallville, I thought the producers had a 4 or 5 year window with which to work. However, the show kept getting renewed so the producers were not under any pressure to resolve certain storylines, and allow characters like Lana to move on. I also think the decision to introduce Lois to Clark in this series created a tension between Clark's life as it is and Clark's life as we know it will be. That said, I cannot imagine watching this show without Lois.
@daeuri ... as a HUGE Clois fan, it's hard for me to say that the show would have been better without her. But actually, I think it would've been right if Chloe and Lana had moved on after the 4th season. Once Lois came, there was no real need for either of them. I really think it could have been handled better! Lois & Clark being friends in S4 was GREAT, but her love interests after that *shudders* She should have dated Off-screen or not. Clark should've MATURED and been single for a while
I really wish they would've introduced Lois into the picture AFTER Lana left (see episode requim). Putting the 2 characters in the same season(s) was a huge mistake.
@daeuri ~ I just wanted to add... I do get their original 5 year plan... however, Superman doesn't become the Hero we all know, only five years after his freshman year in high school ??? I've heard he was around 30... at least 25... so the show COULD have been written to respectfully cover that time after high school, instead of permanently keeping him IN Smallville for the duration. I think the producers failed to understand the purpose of GETTING HIM to actually be the Iconic Superman :*(

I suspect the purpose behind Smallville was to lay out certain emotional benchmarks in Clark's life so that we would know about what he struggled with as a teenager/young adult prior to embracing his destiny. It is interesting to me that Smallville introduced Lex and Lois to Clark in high school because they are probably the most enduring human influences in his life.
@luckyjasonfan Just another thought. Perhaps another way of conceiving this series would have been to call it Smallville for the first 4-5 years during which Clana runs its course leaving Clark devastated. Then, borrowing from the 1st Reeve Superman film, Clark goes away for his training with Jor-El which would signal the end of Smallville. Then Clark would begin at the Daily Planet, and using Seasons 9 & 10 as a template, develop Clois in a series called Metropolis. Just a thought.
@daeuri ~ yeah, I guess there's no undoing the damage now... I mean, I do enjoy the show, but I would've LOVED Metropolis - that would rock! Plus I really love Lex and Jimmy... they shouldn't have been written out of the show... so, I have no clue how this current show will match up with the Superman legacy... how he will Ever wear glasses and be Superman, since about 80% of the people have seen his Face :-( I guess, we'll find out, hopefully :) Also, I suppose Lana won't be marrying Pete lol
@luckyjasonfan Here is how you could bridge the two shows: First, limit all the characters, except for Clark and Lex, to one series. Chloe, Lana, and Pete would stay in Smallville, Jimmy and Lois would be in Metropolis. Without Chloe, Doomsday has no reason to kill Jimmy. Second, the time Clark is in training with Jor-El took about ten years, so by the time he gets to Metropolis, no one, except Lex, would know who he is anyway. BTW, kudos for knowing about the Pete/Lara history.

Erica is so insightful on Lois' character. Problem w/ CK is he is not yet Superman; Superman is always right & does what is right. CK still makes a lot of mistakes & errors in judgement. Once he becomes Superman, he will choose correctly in choosing Lois and telling her who Clark Kent really is as a person. [Superman fan for 32+ years & still love the mythology!}
Exactly. Once he becomes Superman, Smallville is left behind. I'm always surprised people keep expecting Superman in Smallville. Smallville is the road to Superman. I wouldn't be surprised if the last episode of Smallville, there was a slight, and I mean SLIGHT cameo of the classic Red, Blue, Cape.

yeah perfect is boring! flawed is intresting, it provides more chemistry..perfect is romeo and juliet..which means tragic/death...which isnt bad BUT SURE IS A DOWNER if you want to see a couple live happily ever after.
Unfortunately, Erica has virtually zero chemistry with Tom Welling, whereas he and Kristin Kreuk just sizzle. Plus, Erica is far too made-up and glitzy to suit the character. It's too bad that Everybody Knows Lois and Clark will wind up together, because if the writers were able to take the storyline in a direction that made the best use of the actors, Lois would be out the door so fast . . .
In my opinion Erica and Tom has a chemistry which is absolutely amazing since they first meet, and Clark and Lana are just so old stuff, they've been going back and forth for 8 years, it's time for a change since it starts getting ridicolous. The Clois relationship is something written in Clark's destiny, and I also think that Erica is perfect for the role, beautiful and tempered just the right way ;)
lana and clark..sorry but i dont remember enjoying their relationship.. Then Clark would begin at the Daily Planet, and using Seasons 9 & 10 as a template, develop Clois in a series called Metropolis. Just a thought.

@daeuri ~ yeah, I guess there's no undoing the damage now... I mean, I do enjoy the show, but I would've LOVED Metropolis - that would rock! Plus I really love Lex and Jimmy... they shouldn't have been written out of the show... so, I have no clue how this current show will match up with the Superman legacy... how he will Ever wear glasses and be Superman, since about 80% of the people have seen his Face :-( I guess, we'll find out, hopefully :) Also, I suppose Lana won't be marrying Pete lol

@luckyjasonfan Here is how you could bridge the two shows: First, limit all the characters, except for Clark and Lex, to one series. Chloe, Lana, and Pete would stay in Smallville, Jimmy and Lois would be in Metropolis. Without Chloe, Doomsday has no reason to kill Jimmy. Second, the time Clark is in training with Jor-El took about ten years, so by the time he gets to Metropolis, no one, except Lex, would know who he is anyway. BTW, kudos for knowing about the Pete/Lara history.

Erica is so insightful on Lois' character. Problem w/ CK is he is not yet Superman; Superman is always right & does what is right. CK still makes a lot of mistakes & errors in judgement. He needs a lot of growing up and life lessons before he can become Superman. "Superman" is more than just flying or superpowers. Once he becomes Superman, he will choose correctly in choosing Lois and telling her who Clark Kent really is as a person. [Superman fan for 32+ years & still love the mythology!}

In my opinion Erica and Tom has a chemistry which is absolutely amazing since they first meet, and Clark and Lana are just so old stuff, they've been going back and forth for 8 years, it's time for a change since it starts getting ridicolous. The Clois relationship is something written in Clark's destiny, and I also think that Erica is perfect for the role, beautiful and tempered just the right way ;)
