I cried a little when I watched this. I got Wow about 2 months before the release of cata. I made A Night Elf Druid. Even as I lvled beyond Darkshore My Hearth always took me to Auberdine. Sometimes I would just go sit in the middle of the docks and watch the sky and what people there were run by. The First time I saw the commercial for Cata I thought it was awesome. Then I took a second look and my heart was in my throat.
I knew in my heart of hearts there would be a tribute vid somewhere on youtube lol Out of all the areas, I was sad when Darkshore got thrashed. My first experience in WOW was 6 months ago before CATA and I started a night elf who became my first main. Questing in Darkshore was the most memorable because it was where I learned the "ropes". I'm glad I got to play while it was still there.... nice that you made this so we can come back and reminisce. Darkshore Eternally FTW!
@BrettCurtin I'm glad that you liked it. I made sure I got parts of For Love Eternal in the video because it is probably the most iconic Darkshore quest and one of the biggest examples of how well Blizzard could make people feel for the NPC's in a video game :)
What music did you use for the second half? You did a great job btw. I left WoW because the changes were too much. From environment to playability. I will miss it.
@Reurra The two songs are Night Elf 1 and Night Elf 4 from Warcraft 3, I think. I can't remember which ones I used anymore. But you can hear them on youtube and if you have WC3 you can export them from the world editor.
It brings tears to my eyes. Everything was so damn enchanting in these days of WoW. I could play for hours because everyone was so friendly, music so damn pretty and the games seemed so HUGE AND REAL!!!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it :) I tried to showcase a lot of the little things about Darkshore that had been there since the game started - some of the more iconic quests (cave mushrooms and the red crystal ugh, For Love Eternal - awesome) and the prettier parts of the landscape like the ruins and stone walls, the moon over the water. Even the rare forest strider decided to show her face for me, though I tried for hours to get a ghost saber to spawn but couldn't get it to.
@AnarchyNakiwarai Yes indeed, my hunter still has one :) And I am very glad that you enjoyed the video, you cried a little while watching it, I cried a little while making it. :)
Thanks for this video. Brings me way back to the glorious halcyon days of WoW. The feeling of adventure, and the true community that servers had before the expansions. Darkshore was possibly my favorite zone in the entire game. Felt like the beginning to a story, with huge cities like Ironforge and Stormwind half the world away to me. Almost brings a tear to my eyes.

The shattering has made darkshore pants now. Always having to go in the water to progress south.

@silverelf666 I hope you figured out how to get the ghost saber. It was one of my first pets.
