I have another couple of questions. 1. Do I need to use other programs to play online or is it quite like a first person game where you click on online and you get a list of servers where you can choose from without having to register yourself to a dozen programms that need accounts? The second is, can I disable the rediculous transcrips in singleplayer? I mean the red or blue transcrips of the radiomessages in the upper part of the screen and the arrows that point toward the enemy? Thank you.

@racefactory900 It's not as realistic as IL2 1946 even with the most realistic difficulties on. You can do a hard turn and still stay in flight. In IL2, you'd go into a spinning stall. Also it's easier to get shot down, shoot down others. Compared to IL-2, the planes in this game are like paper.

@KamilWow you might have to callibrate your joystick... maybe in the stick settings itself or going in the game and going to options it SHOULD have an option to callibrate the joystick

@Darkgalahad Well, I wouldn't think it would be a heat issue; I never have got as far as flying. I have only run the demo in a menu so I don't think the gpu is working too hard. Besides, it runs other games with no issues and I have it sitting on a cool pad.

No way this is simulator mode. It's next to impossible to fly your plane. it just stalls and flat spins when you bank left or right. Fun game but far from a simulator.

I downloaded the demo and installed it on my laptop. I start it and tried to run through the controls setup and after a few minutes it shuts my machine down. It actualy shuts it down with the normal shut down procedure because I don't get any errors or notices when I power it back up. It seems to be a time issue because I just went in and watched the movie and looked at a few things, and again, after a few minutes it shuts down. The machine runs fine all day long in other sims like FSX.

@VictorSeedorsky it looks better, graphically, but it's not as focused on an accurate simulation (that's not to say it isn't fun though). Ever hear of HSFX and Ultrapack? They make IL2 look really good too.

Hope you weren't hoping for the same levels of "realism" as in IL-2. This is a great game, that strikes a fine balance between realism and fun arcade action.

I'm not a huge fan of true sim type games, this was perfect for me on arcade/realism

@w0bbl3r Ok now that ive playedit a while i must say it is better that the enemys are not so far away and ithe grapics are better but its a pitty theres no medal system and the story really is poor for me it seems its more a game for a short time il-2 1946 has more story more difficulty in dogfighting the enemy planes. In wings of prey the enemys are too easy to kill at least a nice game wher they could have made more out of it this game exact with the rest of il-2 1946 would be perfect

I was interested in that but have heard bad things about it.

I prefer more arcade style sims, but enjoy SOME of the realism of wings of prey and have been dabbling turning up the sim aspects a bit more since I bought a decent stick.

I hear that IL2 cliffs of dover has a lot of bugs and is not as deep as 1946 or the original. I just hope it is stable enough to play and that you can turn down the realism enough for me to have fun.

CoD games have been poor now since MW1, and they just get worse each time. The new one looks like the exact same game as last time, and it isn't even being made by IW, who at least know how to make decent SP levels.

I was asking about cliffs of dover though because I heard it is very buggy, and I wanted more info as I am thinking of buying it

@w0bbl3r but its nearly in every game like how you mentioned it with call of duty even Fifa its always the same only the graphics are polished up a little those things wich make me angry are for example the surrounding in Fifa less teams no japan in fifa 11 no Malta many teams are gone and the fouls and goals are nearly all the time the same than the national athem is not loud enough and they made the game poorer other fifa games for example you could attack the goalkeeper

The first games i played in my life wher about 1989 and i must say those games had more than the games of knowdays graphics wher ugly sure but the game was a game which was produced to make fun today most of the games have super graphics but the story is stupid and in 10 youre through and most of the games you cant play them twice because its always the same.

@LieorDie24 Don't get me wrong, I did LOVE call of duty, but once activision made it a franchise with a rushed release every year it just lost it for me.

All original CoD games, up to MW1, were awesome (except the console only CoD 3, which sucked), but they just sold out after that.

I just hope they do away with base rape and spawn camp in BF3, unlike bad company 2, which was ruined by this almost immediately for me. What could have been the online game of the year ruined by spawn rape

sometimes you fly like 2 hours without shooting nor seeing an enemy but i think if you SIMULATE (and not PLAY) all procedures, formations, tactics etc. you don't even need to shoot you just have fun with that .. it's all up the way you use you simulator..

@bysshe0804 (simulation mode) in close combat you must know how to recognize allies as enemies with the silhouette of the aircraft ,by the distance you can use the map where the enemies are marked red and allies green (teamdogfight). In classic dogfight all against all is easy, just shoot on sight anything that is in sky .

@bysshe0804 Yes , they appears in simulation mode , but also in most simulation games map reveals enemies, IL-2 Sturmovik has a map with waypoints marked and visible enemies at any time (with maximum realism settings turned on). Lock On the same , ecc. ecc.

It doesnt even show your own position on the map with that kind of settings...

@Tornadius If you fly full switch IL-2, you DO NOT have map icons, waypoints etc. No way to tell where the enemy is besides visual, so your statement is incorrect. If you have IL-2 1946, try Warbirds of prey's server "Spits vs 109's"-for example. That's a full switch server.

You have the option to set the game "full realistic" and with that option you won't see you current position neither friends or enemies position on screen or using the map, so, IL-2 can REALLY be "as real as it gets". So bysshe0804, if you're looking for a WWII 100% realistic game look nowhere else, IL-2 is your game.

Of course if the online gameplay is based on teams that have access only to equipment for ONE SIDE, all you say makes sense. If, on the other hand one could pick any aircraft available and team up irrespective of that then of course you could have a Me109 shoot down a Me109... I did not play the game so I had no idea how teaming works.
