I prefer Dido's only for the tone of the song. Sarah does a remarkable job, but it's more airy and almost dreamy. Dido's interpretation has a darker more lonesome feel about it.

And actually when Sarah takes the song in a lower register in starting at 2:25 it sounds amazing. I wish she had done the song in that key. Either way BOTH amazing artists :) No need to hate for either side. Fabulous song :)

Dido sings it so much better, and somehow she avoids sounding like an electronic demon spawn. Pause the video at 4:35, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Sarah looks like she could be queen of the Underworld herself.

@nmj3236 Sarah's a classically trained voice and given the difference in style its normal to say you'd prefer one to the other, however theres no need to be bitchy and calling her things. I'm not really a fan of Dido and her voice but I respect her songwriting. Theres a thing called manners. It's an interpretation, frankly the fact she covered the song says alot about HER respect for Dido. No need to turn on her. I'd see her as a fellow fan

Wow I didn't know Sarah did a version of this song too! I think this song is the sort of songs you listen to when you lose someone and want to cry but can't... Dido's voice has that wailing quality to it, that just makes you want to cry and feel the devastation of losing someone you're close to, whereas Sarah's interpretation and arrangement is more hopeful, which is fine for a "I'll get over it" sort of song, but not for a song that just screams loss and despair

Sarah's orginal version is just so expressive and haunting & I can fully understand why she ask and got permission from Dido to record it first on her La Luna Album...Sarah's wonderful performance gained so much recognition for Dido that it also helped Dido's own version to become a best selling single from her 1st Album "I'm No Angel"...

Sarah asked Dido for permission to Sing her Song on her Album and actually performed this Song before Dido recorded it herself.

Dido wrote this Song at the age of 16 about her boyfriend at the time.

Both versions are wonderful as I'm a big Dido fan also.

This Song also was released later as the 1st single from Dido's Album "I'm No Angel" in January of 2001' and quickly moved up to #1 in the UK.

Also love Dido. This Song made we watch 2 series of Roswell High. To however have to keep remebering that i'm not a big fan of covers when i her versions like this. This is a Brilliant version but in a different way to the brilliant original of Dido.

The song was given to Sarah to look at by then Songwriter Dido to see if Sarah wanted to record it on her Album "Eden"...With Dido's permission Sarah did record it & this is the Result....

Dido later recorded it on her Debut Album about 6 months later...So Sarah's is not the "Cover" version it's the Original...
