Why do you say that? "Mean" would be eating it in front of them and not offering them any, lol! It was a hot, summer day. As you can see, they loved it. :-)
the idea with the raised runs is easy clean up? do their pads ever get sore from the wire floor? looking to get some hounds soon and am deciding on housing with my limited space. thanks.
The above-ground runs are safe, keep them out of their own "mess" and their sleeping boxes are inside the shed. Best of both worlds - can go out for fresh air or go inside their boxes. They have walking boards, the wire is vinyl-coated and does not hurt their feet. Regularly they are put into 100+ acre fenced running areas and allowed to run the entire day if they wish. They are generally pretty happy to get back into their kennels. See also the comments below.
I understand the concern from those who have never kept hunting hounds. These dogs can climb over, dig under, or chew through any standard fencing, and will. It puts them at risk of getting hit by cars, lost, etc. Do they look unhappy or unhealthy? Nah. They are quite the spoiled ones. ;-)
thats mean kinda

I love beagles!!!! I have 4 but they stay inside and are very spoiled. They are diggers and runners so you really have to keep your eye on them.
