@lafe005, you record the part of the flight using FSRecorder, adjust the camera position to the view you want, play it back via FSRecorder and capture with Fraps. The recording is done from a replay so you're not flying when you capture.

get a better computer. there is always a trade off somewhere. FSX is poorly written and runs bad on most computers

GPU wont make that much of a difference, if any at all. Get a good desktop machine. FSX is a terribly written piece of software.

This is all default stuff, except Flight 1's Ultimate Terrain. I guess it comes down to the right game settings and a ton of money invested in the computer. However, the computer I had back when I made this clip is not what I have today.

Keep the nose up and control your descent with thrust. Approach speed should be somewhere around 150-155.

If you need speedbrakes on with full flaps you must be diving for the runway if the plane reaches those speeds.

even with a short runway, do you always have to touchdown after the treshold?

Quito isn't considered a short runway as it measures 10240ft. The flying basics don't change based on runway length.

In a true short field situation runway length is the deciding factor to what type of plane you can fly in and out with.

That being said, if the runway is marginal the approach would be made at a slightly lower airspeed. This will increase the descent rate and the flare would have to be made with a slightly more aggressive pitch.

Record the flight using FS recorder first and then play it back in form of a replay. This allows you to set the camera angles you like.

how do u get to flight simulator recorder?

You download it and if the installer doesn't work all you have to do is drag the recorder.dll into the modules folder on your flight sim root directory. Once you have done that, the sim will recognize the module when it loads and you can access it in the game from the drop down menu.

Pushing L on the keyboard will turn ALL lights on your plane on. Just make sure that landing lights and strobes are not used during pushback, taxi and parking. That's what the Taxi lights are for.

You can always look at the Kneeboard for a list of key commands. It's amazing to me that people fly before they have all the keys/functions down first.

I don't know if it's me but I have FSX for more than a year and this particular mission I haven't passed it yet. Maybe because I land too high or too fast, sometimes I land but the plane won't stop for some reason, with the brakes and reversers.

Gentle movements. Follow the lights next to the runway for approach. 2 red and 2 white is perfect. Keep your thottle up so you dont "fall out of the sky".
