400 volts is not that much, but it is still very dangerous. As it has been said before, this is not a transformer so it isn't true high voltage, just a set of capacitors.
LMAO, @ high voltage power supply. Sorry kiddies, this is not a high voltage power supply, this is low voltage supply charging a cap then discharging it, can't be sustained at those voltages. Basically a camera flash is what it is with most likely a bigger cap. you should really change the title of this video dude.
@Juiss2 Not either. He should also hold it with both hands, and makes sure he has both feet in contact with the floor at all times to make sure he does not drop the end, lose control of it or fall over.
That generator is crazy! 400 Joules? That's fucken insane. I used to blow up capacitors all the time with a model train variable transformer, and at the highest setting in AC it would take the capacitor almost a minute to blow sometimes. I was pretty young and didn't have a multi-meter to measure the output voltage.
I'll build it! But in a metal box or make is look like a 9 volt. (taze my busdriver, because I was holding a 9 volt on the bus, and he threatened to take it away for no reason) nice video! :D
@fireworkfreak100 No, it is more like 300V. You can get it up to about 330V, but that's overcharging it a bit. But not much. Not enough to the point where it matters. If you charge the capacitors too much they will explode.
Dude, if you see this post, I have a question for you. Are those charging boards from disposable cameras able to charge multiple capacitors at once without damage? Say I wish to use one of those boards to charge 10 (330v 120uF) caps in parallel. Should I worry about diodes or any other components exploding on the board? Thanks.
Buy a multimeter with a temperature probe. If any of the components get really hot, it's time to stop charging. Otherwise, it will simply charge proportionally slower with more capacitors added in parallel.
@FELIKSAYK I have ran 5 caps on 1 flash board before, and it ran good. Its gonna take all day to charge with a AA battery though. I use AT LEAST 1 D battery. So my board came out to about 300-330V (Yes, I overcharged them a bit) and somewhere between 300-320uF. The flash board did not have any problems charging it. I have not yet tried 10 caps on one board before, but I have a lot of caps just laying around that I hope to get all on one board. I'll try to get back to you if I get that running.
i used to do that with 40,000 volts and several million amps. you know the results just be very safe.

One board should be able to handle it but it will charge slow. Just keep an eye on the transistor.
