  • You all say that he was humble.

    I do not believe that.

he refused to say muhammad ali's by his name and called him cassius, even after Ali asked him to call him Ali

  • @subro32 Ali never showed any of his opponents respect, why should he expect respect in return?

  • @TheMonkeyman725

If you want to know why he did that is to play an psychological game before the match, Ali wanted to get in to his opponents head.

Watch Ali Frazier back then and now, they are good friends now.

Look at Tyson, at Jones Jr. And look at Prince Nasseem.

All the boxers where yelling and calling there opponents names.

That is what they call a pre-match

  • @subro32 If you think that is acceptable, why do you think Patterson calling Ali by his birth name isn't acceptable?

  • @WingnutDishwasher Cause Ali sad to him not to call him Cassius.

  • @subro32 So... Frazier wanted Ali to call him a gorilla? He wanted his kids taunted at school? He wanted Ali to tell the world that he was an ignorant uncle tom? If he had asked Ali to kindly stop he would have?

Don't get me wrong, I love Ali as much as the next guy, but you can't say it was OK for Ali to do the things he did and that it wasn't OK for Patterson to call him Clay.

  • @WingnutDishwasher Yep ur right

  • sounds strange but he acts a lot like fedor emelianenko.

  • he is humble man..really humble...i wish boxers today are really like him

  • floyd was such a shy guy and youngest heavyweight champ at the time. mar ciano was retired and stayed retired so the fight never happened. liston took him apart though mentally and physically.

  • This show was 100 times better than the crap that is on tv today .

  • well bless your baby heart!

  • He looks like Mos Def

  • If Mr. Cus would had lived longer Mr. Tyson could have been loved like Mr. Patterson. RIP

  • @1banryukyu Floyd was who he was because he was who he was . That is not because of Cus. People give too much credit to Cus Damato. If not for Floyd Cus was nobody. Well Cus was really nobody. He wasn't even one of Floyd's trainers. Infact he wasn't even a fair maneger for Floyd. You people should open up your eyes for God sake.

  • @NeonLeon78 That Sir, is a fact but Mr. Damato took Mr. Patterson in as his family, I think when Mr, Patterson was 16 Mr. Damato adopted him. Helped trained him helped in promoting him. I have only seen and read good things about Mr. Damato and Mr. Patterson relationship. Please give me the name of the books, video ect were you get your info from, I would like to know more. By the way I do like your Youtube page. May both men rest in peace. Thank you

  • a great man

  • Arlene knew her sports !

  • The reluctant champ...........hated that he had to hurt someone in the ring.....

    A humble and class act.......

Read about him in the Ali book called "King of the World' for more insight of Floyd

  • The first fighter to regain the heavyweight title! Floyd had great speed and a powerhouse left hook! A true CHAMPION!!!!

  • Floyd Patterson, a true legend in the ring, and a great person.

It seems as if he became more camera friendly later in his career, which makes sense. He was still very young during this.

  • He was really a light heavyweight with terrific speed and agility.

His smaller size became a big factor against the big punchers (especially Sonny Liston) later in his career.

  • wow, seems like such a nice guy

  • I love Floyd.

  • I really know alot of heavyweight history or boxing in general, but I have never seen a man, such as humble as floyd was... rest in peace champ

  • Well said.

  • my favorite all time heavy weight him and Marciano

  • Floyd Patterson was what they used to call a juvenile delinquent. My grandfather worked at Spofford Youth House in NY and Patterson was there as a teenager getting an attitude adjustment. Or so the story goes. He was a fine gentleman and I was really PO'd when Clay beat him for the crown.

  • how low is floyd's seat??

  • floyd is really soft spoken

  • the true boxing champions often speak softly and carry a big stick

  • very true and i would say not just boxing, Fedor Emelianenko is a perfect example. He is as humble and classy as Floyd was... all time greats...

  • Very Nice.

  • A true gentleman!

  • a true gentleman thanks for this video

  • Loved to see this!

  • OOOh, Floyd Patterson is here? The Heavyweight Champion?

  • Thank You for this.

  • Thank you for saving this footage of my dad

  • thank u
