The history of the Catholic reaction to heresy and blasphemy is stronger than any atheist argumen. This is not critical analysis if these scholars already believe that there is no contradiction between reason and faith, and then, they try to concile apparently contradictory statements.
How can you show that God exists by first giving a definition for God that already implies existence. The third claim is weird because if something exists only in the mind, then it doesnt exists. e.g. a unicorn.
@altaris2011 I think that these scholars KNOW that reason and faith don´t contradict each other, because this is a historical fact. There are a lot of scientists among the christians, muslims, jews. Of course the Catholic Church have reacted to heresy and blasphemy, and that may be the reason because the Catholic Church built Western Civilization. There are no arguments that can debunk the fact the Church does a great work in Science, Art, Philosophy, Sociology, Politics, for the World
@altaris2011 But, I would say, as someone who has studied the Inquisition and how it went about it's business, a lot of what you might believe about heresy and blasphemy is largely overblown. Not to say executions and tortures didn't happen, but you saw those following the onset of the Black Death and the Spanish Inquisition which was largely a political affair rather than a religious one. Invariably, you find most executions for this to be of a political than a religious nature.
