why are dayton cops scared of cameras? you never see them telling WHIO or WDTN to holster their cameras. Whats the difference in what they are doing with their cameras vs. what ur doing with urs? side note: the cop pulled up on you with the quickness didnt he?
Actually, you are allowed to tape them, there is an article about taping police somewhere on the net, you should look it up, by your rights they couldn't make you stop or take your camera ;)
felonies do not vacate your civil rights @schwantz3...not in the state of Ohio. Once you have served your time, you may vote, have a passport (unless you owe child support) although a firearms disability is usually in effect. That disability s simple to remove however. There are a handful of states, mostly in the south, that do vacate your rights.
Having a felony makes getting a job more difficult, but that is the price a felon pays, whether you agree or not.
Arresting citizens for ridiculous crimes greatly benefits Govt. Police merely act as thugs to do the dirty work. History shows us repeatedly that opressing the populace makes them easier to control.
A felony - any felony renders you unable to vote. You cant own a firearm. You cant get a passport. You cant get a decent job. etc..etc.. Cars, homes, bank accounts, anything can be seized. Fines, community service work, prison, probation, attorneys, judges, databases all feed the system.
Hello there Mr. Beach, i have a few questions about the Dayton area. How do you like it there? I live in Lima Ohio and Ive considered moving to Dayton after I finish the police academy. Where are the "good" and "rough" sections of the city? Whats your opinion on Huber Heights and the other suburbs if I decide against Dayton?
I think Dayton is rebounding in some way! I know one thing about the media, the promote the negative.
However if the right leadership gets involved with the community this city would rebound. WPAFB, University of Dayton, Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, Tech Town, are at successful times. But still more work is to be done.
Good luck on the success with the police academy.
What up B!!! Man you really did NOT have to put that camera down, you make some great videos, but on this one you had more then what you knew.If you would have kept the camera up and been charged with obstructing justice you definatley would have beat it for one you have a right to press... you make docs and can prove it two that officer was not on scene yet whenever they stop at a scence they call it in in order to obstruct he would have had to be on scene do more of these!
You have a right to film public servants in a public place at a distance, they can question you, you don't have to answer. You need to stay firm about your rights and followup with a phone call to the station about what the officer said to you. The other poster was very correct in saying always keep filming and audio running even if it's the ground you are shooting. That you turned off the camera hurts the next person that wants to film.
why the hell would somone thumbs down your comment. that pissed me off alot. ive been on both sides of the camera...yeah shit gets crazy...lol and are 100% correct. whoever dosent agree is IGNORANT. hope they have fun not taking control of what they can do.
Don't let Dayton PD take away your rights. Next they will take all your rights away... Ohio is not a police state... yet. Thank you for the great videos Mr. Beach...
If this happens again be sure to ask if there is a perimeter established and where so that you may continue filming legally. Never turn your camera off. Point it to the ground if you fear retaliation but the audio may be valuable if your rights are being violated. You have every right to shoot photos and video as long as you are not impeding the police from doing their duty. If you KNOW YOUR RIGHTS and can be rational in explaining to them your rights they will usually leave you be.

Is it not amusing how they have no problem putting cameras on us to monitor us, But vice versa it's not ok.

You should of asked "Am I legally required to obey your order stop filming or are you asking me to stop?" and make sure the answer is recorded.

Run BRIAN! Run!
Haha, just messing. That would make the situation worse.
Why should you put the camera down though? You are not disrupting anything. It's your community. You should be able to film on a public street.
