I might try it on my cat, I usually just hold him bridal-style and my nail-clipping partner gets to work on his claws with human clippers. It only works for us because he is so used to being held though - we have had to pick him up everyday for the past 6 years for his insulin shot so he doesn't mind it for a few minutes.
as long as this cat does not just stay inside, i'd recommend not doing this. cats need to defend themselves from other animals, etc. plus they wouldnt be able to climb trees.
@ThomasDemko There is a difference between clipping claws and declawing the cat. Declawing breaks the cat's toes and does, as you said, keep them from defending themselves or climbing trees. Clipping claws merely takes the point off them temporarily; it does not stop them from defending themselves or climbing trees.
I have tried clipping mine when he's asleep but, he's on to me and wakes up quickly. But, I'll give it another go before I try the blanket routine. It's much easier if you have two people but, since my cat runs and hides when someone else comes over, that's not an option ;) Thanks for the tips. You're right about not doing them all at once!
u only need to cut ur cat's claws if they dont have a scratching post... a scratching post acts to file ur cat's claws... since they scratch it.. and stuff...
@TheKeyToBeingAmazing im glad it worked for you. it encourages me to try it on my cats. unfortunately, i have four cats [ one for each person in my house] i found it funny that your cat tried attacking your hand, just cause it seems comical that she would be like "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE." =p

@ThomasDemko I keep my cats indoors, and this helps alot. I hate declawing :(

THANK YOU!!
I'm trying to trim my cats nails,
but shes really annoying!,
I got her to lay down, and sleep,
and she did! but i did all of them,
except the thumbs, and 2 others,
now shes awaken, but when she woke up,
she tried attacking the clippers, and my hand >;l

Do you have to use those clippers or can you use regular ones? I don't have cat clippers yet but my cat has left scratch marks all over my arms.
