  • 0.21 What is that? O_O

  • Attack of the Grey Lantern has been on my player for the last weeks, again, after a few years, and it is as good as ever, one of the best records of that era. Imagine randomly finding this CD on a shopping mall, here in Spain, where they were almost completely unknown... It was one of the best things in my life, being on my fifteens, really!!

  • Andy the drummer used to play with D+A Cowboys from Chester. I thought they would make it big time, they were so good.

  • one of my fav.brit band

  • i wish i knew about them when they came out. i feel like part of my life's been missing and i just found it.

  • that sucks dude...Mansun are awesome!

check out ocean colour scene, terrorvision, boo radleys, marion, gene, reef, kula shaker and space.... similar kinds of music, all hidden gems lost behind blur, pulp and oasis dominating britpop!!

  • And do'nt forget Super Furry Animals

  • were they from chester?

  • I heard that part of this video was filmed in the bombed out church in Liverpool it looks liked it does anyone know or got a link??? ta la :)

  • The bombed out church in Liverpool is called St. Luke's. I'm not sure if it's the same as the one in the video though.

  • Munsun was greatest as early suede.

  • mansun were such a good band, never really got to be as big as they should have been

  • What really strange lyrics. Gotta admit though, one of the best tunes of the 90`s

  • The album was one of the best of the early Brit Pop era.

  • You can hear an bowie influence in the chorus :)

  • A very under rated band, Attack of the Grey Lantern was a classic album without any of the usual 'fillers' you got from other bands. I regularly put it on and dont want to forward any of the tracks. The press just had it in for them i think, much maligned, sad really.

  • This song delivers lots of great memories of seeing Mansun live in the late 1990s.

  • Good God these were good times for music!!

  • Brings back the best memories of the 90's.

Now off to listen to the Manics.

    xx

  • can anyone tell me what brand/model's Paul's red-slash-black guitar? beautiful!! and i totally love song, love the album, love love LOVE the band! 1996 has gotta be one of the best years of brilliant songs... especially from the UK =D

  • Its just your average Gibson Les Paul with a fancy paint job

  • is it ok to feel turned on right now ?

  • such a cool album!

  • best of 90's brit pop

  • love it :]

  • i used to commute down to birmingham mid 90's where i fell in love with a most beautiful and before we used to meet up I used to listen to mansun's first album esp wide open spaces, bitter sweet memories

  • Can't believe Draper doesn't rate this one much, this is the song that got me into Mansun back in '96 and is a perfect balance of commercial writing but with the Mansun personality. Also Paul got some real unusual phrasing into this song which isn't easy to do and keep it 'catchy' or 'radio friendly'

    well That's what I think anyway. :)

  • Couldn't agree more

  • This band ha such star quality.

  • Great song. Reminds me a bit of motorcycle emptiness.

  • thanks Mansun

  • Mansun were amazing. Still are.

  • I love this lyric!! haha and the song of course

  • Class song, class album!

  • Can't believe this was 1996! Reminds me of Uni so bad...!

  • his voice is so cool!

  • posted too much comments?

    OK -

love it love it love it.

  • Stove works at Toyota (according to Paul), Paul's still working on new music, can't wait.

  • Was this really 12 years ago?? Oh, I feel so old!

    Mansun absolutely rocked!!

  • I know, its mad to think how long ago it was. I love the grey latern album and at a festival I ditched a chance to see the chilli peppers to go see Mansun on the other stage and I dont regret it. got right to the front and loved every second of it. ps, I love MCR too, Frankie rawks xoxo

  • Cool! Yeah MCR are so cool, I love 'em.

And, no offence to the chili's, but I'd choose to see Mansun over them any day!

    Good on ya!

I wonder whatever happened to bassist Stove?

  • I don't know, I was trying to find out what they are all doing now earlyer, but I cant find anything :[

  • I'm not old enough to remember these from their heyday but one of my mates sent me this and Wide Open Space and I fell in love with them. One of the forgotten bands of the 90's and Attack of the Grey Lantern is probably one of the finest albums from the 90's.

  • grey lantern rocks... I still prefer Six tho.

  • I agree, Six is a masterpiece

  • Haven't seen this in years, it just cheered me up, thanx! <3

  • I went to their gig in Leics at the UNI, the bassist spat his water all over me...HEAVEN!! They were such a great band

  • Loved Mansun, they would kick the arse of all of the crappy emo bands about now,, where are your heroes when you need em???

  • Great song, great band, but what were they on when they shot this?

  • mint

  • attack of the grey lantern is one of the greatest albums ever ^_^

  • randomly finaly found this song

  • class!

  • magnifico.........where have they gone

  • out of all the mansun choonz this my fave.dunno, there just summat about it int there.

  • 'and he's making wine and water while he dresses like his daughter' ha ha, great tune

  • 'if i gob on him then call him plastic scouser but the only thing the stripper vicar wears is plastic trousers' class

  • this is just so ridiculously catchy, love this song why does noone write such lush stuff any more

  • i miss them...:( for sure one of the best british bands ever

  • i love stripper vicar

  • still loving it.

  • FUCKING LOVE IT!

  • I like the song - the film clip does not have a lot to do with strippers.

  • bag of sh*te

  • So why watch it?

I miss Mansun, one of the most underrated bands ever!

  • i did not know it was shit till i watched it

  • r u livin under a rock? or do u just hate scousers?

  • u must hate scousers or somethin

  • Hold on, did you say shed 7 ?? Don't even mention Mansun and Shed 7 in the same sentence. C'mon!! Buy all the Mansun albums... it might encourage them to reunite

  • yep they were fantastic live. can someone please upload some shed 7 ????

  • I much prefer this live

  • great band to be remembered forever....

  • Viva Mansun!!!

  • britpop gold from back in the day

  • great band, great tune from a great lost gem of an album

  • One of the best British bands ever. And they are never mentioned...

  • i love paul´s trousers !! :P

  • Nope Annie you're not...Left my 'Attack Of The Grey Lanterns 'CD in my hire car when i was last in Perth....Doh!

P.S it was a blue Hyundai Getz

P.P.S congrats on winning back the Ashes...truly deserved.

  • Attack Of The Grey Lanterns, and the other Mansun albums as well, are fantastic! "The Chad Who Loved Me", "Taxloss", and "Legacy" are my favourite songs. And also, Australia definitely deserve the Ashes because...well...England are rubbish.

  • I wonder if I am the only one in Western Australia that owns this cd.

  • Yeah, just don't forget to buy their new CD/DVD with all of their music videos on it! And i am sure at a much greater level of quality than on here! I can't wait to get mine :)

  • i love this song,

  • It's not bad is it

  • Bloody bloody bloody brilliant!!!!

  • I miss this band!!!

  • I love this to a degree that is truly stupid.

  • yay for mansun
