This defininitely should have been left in the movie it adds to the impact, does not distract from it. It would have added another dimension to the Sheriff's character. What a shame, if it's true that some of Alan's scenes were taken out because Costner was afraid he might lose the movie. Happened anyway, the only reason I watch this movie is because of Alan Rickman.

@RyZombie619 For what it's worth, a Robin Hood-based website says some of Rickman's scenes *were* cut "to prevent him stealing more time and sympathy away from the film's hero" ... but the decision to cut those scenes was made by the producers. So unless Costner was also a producer, it doesn't sound as though he was involved in that decision.

@Centaurmaiden I read somewhere that that *was* why some of Rickman's scenes were deleted but that it was NOT Costner who asked for/demanded it; it was someone in management (producer or something).

it's rumor kevin costner cuts some of the AR's scenes cos he's so good in this role. but Alan still totally upstages Costner in in the film.

AR is the reason why i bought the dvd. too bad it doesn't have these deleted scenes.

Ty for posting these deleted scenes. What a shame they were left out, especially this one and the Barons scene. It's ridiculous they left this part out, it explained so much about the Sheriff. Explains his twisted tormented soul. Too bad I wasn't there to make him feel better. ;_)
