It's A,B,C,D for your range....then 1,2,3,4 for you speed. You don't need to use the clutch to go from st to 2nd but then you need it to go from 2nd to 3rd then you don't need the clutch from 3rd to 4th. You always use the clutch to select your range.

Nice Tractor. We have a '74 or '75 4030 with a Cab and a straight pipe. when did u do the motor on it and how many hours (We blew an oil gasket in '97 with it and we got 7200 on it)

4 ranges, A,B,C & D. 4 speeds in each range, 1,2,3 &4.

You can shift from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to 4th without clutching but from 2nd to 3rd you have to clutch
