First off, if you read my comment, I said there are plenty of jobs in the US, just that they all aren't $100k jobs. In other words, if you had a white-collar, office job earning $60k a year, you won't find an equivalent for a few months or longer, but you could easily find a job at a retailer or somewhere making $8-10 a hour, but that won't cover your bills if you used to make $60k. However, in this context, it's a starting place for the homeless. No wonder why you can't find work. READ.

There are no jobs in retail here. My husband has been unemployed for more than a year and cannot find any work in ANY sector. His manager who was his boss had to move because there are no jobs here. RT is once again playing politics. Even if you believe the 3 million number is accurate, put that in context. There's over 300 million people in the US. We're talking 1% of the population. Where else in the world is the homelessness rate this low? Secondly, the homeless in the US just lack homes of their "own" but they are given free housing (not just in group shelters), money for food, and then given jobs. They aren't left for dead.

They have programs for them, even those who receive welfare are required to get a job. The TRUE homeless in America, as in the people you see living on the street, are very few in number and most of those people have mental health issues, which is why they don't sign up for these programs that supply them with housing, food stamps, jobs, etc.

Jobs are plentiful, just not $100k jobs. McDonalds is always hiring, $8 park maintenance, etc.

Europe has a good foundation in terms of smart urban planning, solidly built housing, and transportation options (bike, public transit, etc.) to mitigate poverty concerns. Overall, far less financial leverage is needed to survive. Most people don't have mortgages and car payments.

However, the EU still has the central banking concept which probably should be reconsidered. I see nothing good about that in the long run.
