I like the way you used what looks like part of the original airbox to make a 4 in 1 air filter holder. You're smoothing out the airflow, and also, you can probably ride your bike in moderate rain with your air filter protected, not ruining four individual pods...like I, um, have done on my CB550...
Yeah it works pretty well and allows you to run smaller jets. This bike runs well with 115 sizing. I'm planning on doing the same on a CB750 bobber I'm working on now. Check my other vids if you want to see it.
Hey dude I like your taste in music I really admire that! can you lead me to more music like this I want to like whatever music you like .thank you I think it will make me a superior person, and i am going to buy a 550f tomorrow too! I'll post a vid up
I have no clue on the battery model. All I know is that I bought one to fit at a battery store. It is laying down flat on it's side. Also it's a sealed maintenance free. The battery is located right underneath the hump. I welded a nice little battery holder/basket right to the frame and is held down by a rubber strap.
@CountRockula1 thanx man, and btw, i really dig ur bike, love the vintage shit, used to have a 72 yamaha r5, scared the shit out of everyone that rode it, who needs a fancy cbr600 when you can have 350cc's of smokin awesomeness ")
I love the look of your bike and the sound the Honda 4s make when you have them set up right. I have a 1977 CB550, been working on it for a while now, turning it into a cafe. I saw you have the 4 to 1 air chamber with an aftermarket single air filter. I'm interested in doing a similar setup, is it an aftermarket car unit?
That’s a tough one. They are crap when compared to anything modern. They will stop you just fine and have never been a problem for me. Also you can always upgrade them with stainless brake lines, upgraded hydraulics etc.. You can also upgrade to dual disks quite easily. All the holes are arleady there, you just have to buy a second setup.
Yes I used stainles zip ties. Make sure you soak the wrap in water first as it will wrap more tightly. The first time you run the bike the water will just burn off. No glue or anything else needed.
I moved the battery under the hump behind the seat and all the electronics to under where you sit. Keep in mind I got rid of a lot of crap that wasn't needed. I also had to cut a lot of wires in order to lengthen or shorten things up. Funny thing with bikes...It will always fit if you force the issue.
This is a cool bike. Did you just weld up the electrical conduit to the factory header pipes? No baffles what so ever? Does Johnny Law ever hassle you over the noise? This is exactly what I want for my 550. Thanks man.
The headers are off some rusted out aftermarket pipes I found on the bay. I payed like 35.00 for the set. I just kept the non rusted parts. No baffles at all. There are no noise restrictions where I live here in Alaska. They aren't to crazy loud. I think the thick walls of the conduit help mellow the sound a little and their not crazy loud. I've heard way louder Harley's.
Love the bike. I am getting ready to put ace handlebars on my cb550. Do you have any hints for intsallation to save me any headaches? Where did you get yours? I just want to make sure they clear the tank.
this is my dream bike.

Yes for 45 min each way no problem. For 2hrs each way, no! Also the seat isn't the problem it's the stance.

I gotta ask are those seats comfy for long rides like 45 min rides or so each way ?

Who does the tank indents?
ryan2282 9 months ago
@ryan2282
the cafe racer is pretty much the original sportbike. the tank indents so the knees can grip it better

@ryan2282
I did it myself. Use a nice blow hammer. I practticed first on an old throw away tank.

Yes it's a K&N. I forger the mesurement of the opening. I just mesured the OD of the stock air chamber and ordered the filter off from Summet Racing.

When you wrap those pipes, do you need a clamp on the top, and the back? Do you use any kind of clue? to make it stick?
